Before each trip always completely clear your car of snow and ice. Snow left on the hood or roof can blow back onto windows. Dirty slush and snow can completely hide your signals and brake lights, making them ineffectual. ••••••• The answer to winter's driving problems is quite simple, says the Ontario Safety League. . Do everything -• accelerating, braking and steering •• more slowly. . It's not necessary to travel with the pack. the Ontario Safety League reminds motorists. When driving in winter weather give yourself two to three times as much following distance. In an emergency. you're going to need much more room to stop. ••••••• If you think adding weight on the drive wheels of a vehicle is a good idea for winter driving, the Ontario Safety League says you should also know that it will take a greater distance to stop. Adding weight to the rear wheels of a rear wheel drive vehicle will reduce cornering and steering capability. ••••••• Winter driving is slower and often frustrating. Be prepared to give more attention to your car. your equipment and your driving. Try to be patient if you are delayed when a vehicle ahead stalls or is stuck on a slight grade because of worn tires.
