Committees approved
The various committees of the Perth
County Board of Education were approved at
its December meeting.
Trustee Don Crowley of RR 2, Gadshill
0 will chair the finance Committee, Other
members of the committee are, vice-chair-
man Ted Loughrey of Mitchell, Bert Johnson
of Listowel, Rodney Bell of Shakespeare,
Earl Oppenhauser of Logan Township,
Howard Shantz of Stratford and Dereck
Ward of Wallace Township
Former board chairman Shantz is heading
the salary negotiations committee. With'him
on the committee are trustees Bell, Peter
Black of RR 1, St, Marys, Barbara Herman
of Milverton, Paul Parlee of Stratford, Twyla
Reed of Ellice Township and Mr. Ward.
Truitee Oppenhauser will chair the capital
forecast committee. On the committee are
trustees Loughrey, Bell, Black, Crowley,
Gerald Foster of Elma Township, and
Barbara Osborne of St. Marys.
Mr. Parlee is chairman of the ad hoc
committee on the extension of funding to
Roman Catholic secondary schools. Trustees
Oppenhauser and Griffin are also on the
committee.
Other committees are as follows:
• Liaison committee: Mr. Loughrey, Mrs.
Herman and Mr. Parlee;
Public relations: chairman Griffin, Mr.
Black, Mr. Foster, Mrs. Osborne, Mrs, Reed
and Ron Richards of Stratford.

A welcome to all was given by the grade
two girls and David Diegel, Jason Murray
and Karen Vansteelandt.
The school choir sang Star of the East,
Thirty-two feet and Eight Little Tails of
White, The Huron Carol and Heaven Rejoice.
This was followed by a French Carol by
grades four and five and a skit "Merci Mere
Noel" by grade eight with grade six and
seven providing the music.
A play, "Home Management" was pre-
sented by grades seven and eight.
Away in a Manger, Santa Claus is Coming
to Town and Upon the House Top were sung
by the primary choir.
A play, "Sir Gawain and the Green
Knight,' by grades four, five and six, Nester
the Lengeared Christmas Donkey" by grades
three, a play "Visiting the Sick" by grades
seven and eight Ind grade three presented
the play "Teddy Bears Smile."
The concert concluded with the primary
choir singing "Grandma We Love you" to the
many grandmas in the audience.
Father Cassano presented Mr. McDonald
with a book on Pope John Paul's visit to
Canada as a token of appreciation.
The children were very excited as the
sound of bells let them know that Santa had
arrived and gave each child a treat.
Patricia Crowley assisted the children with
their singing at the piano.
A draw for a Cabbage Patch Doll was won
by Don Melady: $20 by Jerry Murray and a
Cabbage Patch doll's outfit by Chris Vogels.

spending her Christmas holidays at the home

The flowers on the altar in St. Peter's
Lutheran Church, Brodhagen, on Sunday
were from the L.eonhardt•Kaufman wedding
which was on Saturday. The chrysanthemum
plant in the chancel were in memory of Mrs.
Henry Kieber, she died seven years ago on
Dec. 16. and was placed there by the family.
The basket arrangement was from the funeral
of Norman Hollatz. which took place in
Monkton on Saturday. The poinsettia plant
was in memory of Katie Querengesser and
Alfred Querengesser. They both died in the
month of Dec, and was placed there by the
family.
The children's Christmas service will be
held Dec. 24 at 8 p.m.
Mr, and Mrs. Dale Bennewies, Amv and
Ashley of RR 1. Bornholm, entertained the
Jutzi family at their home on Sunday for their
annual Christmas gathering. They come from
as far away as Windsor. St. Catherines.
Edmonton, Gadshill, Tavistock, Stratford
and RR 1. Bornholm.
Sympathy of the community is extended to
the family and relatives of the late Norman
Hollatz.

Local 4 -Hers
judges at
Agribition
Recently four 4-1-1 members from across
Ontario represented the province at the
International Judging Competition at the
Canadian Western Agribition in Regina,
Saskatchewan.
The four person team included: Franklin
Haig, RR 5, Campbellford, (Northumberland
County); Alan Mills, RR 1, Arnprior,
(Carleton County): Alison McDougall, RR 1,
Grassie, (Niagara North); Elizabeth Stewart,
RR 1, Dublin (Huron County). Each of these
delegates were selected as a result oflacing
first at their region's Class A Fair Judging
Competition.
The team did an excellent job of represent-
ing Ontario at Agribition with Franklin
placing first and Alison third in the Dairy
Section; Elizabeth fourth and Alan fifth in the
Sheep Section and Franklin sixth overall in
final standings.
