Arena ice
is back to normal
Things are back to normal at the arena
after some mechanical difficulties on the
weekend.
Arena Manager Jack Price said a
breakdown of one of the compressors
resulted in the loss of refrigeration at the
arena Saturday night. The loss of refrigera-
tion, which was not discovered until Sunday
morning when Mr. Price went in to work.
left the ice unsuitable for play Sunday. A
second compressor -in the system was not
strong enough to compensate for the loss of
the first compressor.
Once a mechanic was called to the arena,
it took four hours for the ice to get back to
normal.
Approximately five user groups were
affected by the break down.

two, and Lisa O'Dwyer, Jane Rowcliffe and
Tammy Taylor with one each. Kendra
Papple, Pam Campbell, Tracy Taylor and

of an overage player into the tournament.

Goderich team, an overage 19 -year-old who
,ani nl!n••Prt tr. nlnv g•sorPd five of the
Goderich goals. Who knows what might have
been?" she: said.
in the second game Seaforth went on to
meet Waterloo where they suffered a 8-2 loss.
This was followed by a loss to Perth County
Market of Stratford 9-2,
Despite playing hard Miss Doig said a
number of penalties in both games hurt the
team.
"They (the girls) played hard, never gave
up for a moment, but a lot of shorthanded
plays made catchup ringette even harder,"
she said.
Winners of the tournament were Perth
County Market who defeated Fram 8-7 in the
final. Twelve.teams from Southwestern Ont,
competed.

Banquet raises
'10,00 for wildlife
The cause of North American wildlife
conservation was given an added boost nn
November 16 this year. when the Goderich
committee of Ducks Unlimited Canada raised
more than 510.000 at the sold out banquet.
Commenting on the event, Ducks Unlimited
Chairman, Bruce Sully said:
"Our first banquet was more than just
successful. We came close to a record for first
time Ducks Unlimited events and, no doubt.
have firmly established a fine tradition in the
Goderich area."
Sully went on to say that the funds raised
will go directly into critical wetland restnra•
tion projects:
Marshes like the new Hullett Wildlife
Area project wouldn't be possible without the
support of all the fine people who came to our
fundraiser. Planning for the 1085 banquet is
already underway and although it will be hard
to top. we are promising to make that event
even better".
Bruce Sully and the committee offered
congratulations to all of the businesses and
people who contributed more than -80 prizes
and a lot of time to make the event such a
SUCCESS.
In a final statement about Ducks Unlimit-
ed. Sully said:
"The organization has. enjoyed a 75 per
cent growth rate in Canada since 1980 and,
along with another 130 new Ducks Unlimited
members, I'm proud to he associated with the
cause,''
The future of waterfowl on the continent
looks a little brighter all the time, but a lot
more needs to be done to stabilize the duck
population.
An announcement will be made early in
1985 about next years event and it looks like it
will be another sell out. Anyone else
interested in helping out with next year's
event can contact Bruce Sully through
Champion Road Machinery in Goderich.
