Santa Claus will visit
legion on Sunday
Thanks to Comrade Tom Wilbee for filling
in last week while we visited friends in Tweed
and our daughter in Ottawa. We enjoyed a
nice holiday even though being retired is like
having a seven day weekend.
The Seaforth Legion extends congratula-
tions to the winners in the essay, poem and
poster competitions announced last week.
Students who were not so fortunate in the
competition, I hope you will try again another
year.
On Wednesday, my wife and 1 attended the
official opening of the New Parkwood
Hospital. The Honorable George Hees,
Minister of Veterans Affairs cut the ribbon to
officially open the building. In his address he
congratulated those responsible for the fine
hospital and care centre that is now
Parkwood.
Almost half of the beds will be occupied by
veterans now living on the Westminster
Campus. These patients will be transferred in
mid Jan. to their new, spacious quarters.
The total project cost was $43.3 million:
Funding consisted of The Ontario Ministry of
Health, 523.3 million; Veteran's Affairs
Canada, 513.5 million and the Women's
Christian Association of London 56 million.
Today (Wednesday) is euchre night at the
Legion. Prizes tonight will be turkeys says
host Jim Watson. Anyone wishing to play is
asked to be at the Legion before 8 p.m.
On Saturday morning Legion president,
Jack Muir would like volunteers to help bag
candy for the Christmas concert. Estimated
time is 10 a.m. If in doubt phone Jack.
The concert is scheduled to start at 2:00.
There is a short program of selections by the
children and also a short movie will be shown.
At the conclusion of the program Santa is
expected to arrive.
At the going down of the sun and in the
morning we will remember them.

The Dec. meeting of the Seaforth Legion
Ladies Auxiliary was held Wednesday.
Members decided to again give Christmas
gifts to all shut-in -veterans either at home or
hospital and also to give the usual donation to
the two nursing homes in town for the
patients.

Voucher sales blooming in Blyth
The Blyth Festival has sold over three
times as many subscription vouchers as it had
last year at this time, says Brenda Doner,
general manager of the Blyth Festival.
"We're overjoyed by the voucher's popu-
larity," she says. "Many people are giving a
set of four or a pair of vouchers as inexpensive
Christmas gifts. Then of course, there are
those who are just buying early for
themselves."
The voucher price has not increased from
last year's price of 525 for four adrhissions.
And the voucher price is lower by 20 per cent
of more than the proposed single ticket prices
for next year. Ticket prices are: 58 weekdays.
59 on weekends. The 1985 season will run
