The Ausable-Bayfield Conservation Au-
thority has budgeted over $525,004 for 1985
Capital projects.
The capital projects were approved at the
authority s fall meeting recently, ABCA
general -manager Tom Prout said that al-
though the authority has.tentatively budget-
ed these projects, not all will be started. The
go-ahead of±he projects depends on ministry
of natural resources approval.
Two capital projects ,where provincial
funding is not expected are for the estimated
$100,000 Lucan Erosion Control project and
Phase 11 of the flood monitoring system
expected to cost about.$31,000.

, Ronald. Marcy, 48, of Stratford has been
elected chairman of the Huron -Perth Roman
Catholic Separate School Board. He defeated
immediate past vice-chairman Michael Mor-
iarity,of RR 2, Bayfield and Tim McDonnell of
RR 2, Gadshill. And he replaces chairm,, .
Ron. Murray of RR 1, Dublin;
Mr. Marcy was chairman of the finance
committee as well as the board accommoda-
tion review committee. He also served as
board chairman in 1980 following a year as
vice-chairman.
One of the two Stratford representatives on
the separate school board, Mr. Marcy is the
head of the math department at North est -
ern Secondary School in Stratford.
' Mr. Marcy said the three big issues o> be
dealt with by the board are implementing the
French immersion program in Goderich and
Stratford; making a decision regarding a
Catholic secondary school in the system; and
working on the recommendations about the
separate school board made by the Ministry
of Education earlier this year.
Public relations officer Dan Kannaley said
the authority will know by mid -Jan, which
projects would he approved. The budget will
be reassessed for approval at the ABCA's
annual meeting in Feb.
The Largest budgeted project is the Grand
Bend "Area D" erosion control project.
Downriver from previous erosion control
project "Area E", the project is estimated at
$160,000. This involves erosion control
measures along the Lake Huron shoreline in
Grand Bend.
Another major project for 1985 involves
erosion control at Port Franks, This is
expected to cost about $125,000 for engineer-
ing studies and the first phase of construc-
tion.
Mr. Prout said the ost would be covered
from the sale of colt es in the area.
A fill -line revs study of all the
municipalities. in a watershed has been
budgeted at $20,000. A flood line mapping
study has been budgeted at $55,000.
Improvements at the Parkhill Dam slated
for 1985 are estimated at $35,000.

a eas - Rock. Glen, Parkhill, Clinton and the
xeter-Morrison. corridor.
Trail improvements and .tree planting are
included in the improvements.

Trustee Vincent McInnes of the Wingham
area was elected' as vice-chairman of the
board. He defeated Mr. McDonnell and Mr.
Moriarity for the vice-ohairmanship.
For the first time. the board as a whole,
elected the chairmen of the three standing
committees. 'In the past, the individual
committees elected the chairman,
Mr. Murray was acclaimed as chairman of
the finance, policy and bylaw committee.
Ernie Vanderscott of RR 7, St. Marys was
named chairman of the personnel committee.
And Dave Durand of the Zurich area was
elected property committee chairman. He
defeated Mr. McInnes and Mr, McDonnell
for the position.
Sunoco service station
hit with break and enter
A break-in occurred at the Sunoco Service
Station. Godgrich Street East •early Tuesday
morning. •
Entry to the service station was gained by
smashing ;hefty garage door, and police say
approximately $100-$1000 in tools and goods
were stolen from the premises.
