MUSiC FiLLED the grade six classroom at
the Brussels Public School, last Tuesday night
when parents and students participated In
Activity Night. Parents were treated to a
musical program and also had the opportun-
ity to visit classrooms, see school work on
display and talk with teachers. Sherri Jackiin
tried her hand at playing the xylophone.

Next year senators. MPs, their top aides
and members of the press gallery will pay
almost double for their choice meals in the
exclusive parliamentary restaurant. 58 in•
stead of 54.40. For years the restaurant has
been losing money hecausc of the low cosi of
the meals. The additional cost of these
subsidized meals has been paid by us. the
taxpayers. Even the 58.. in comparison to the
price of such lavish m cels in other posh
restaurants, is ridiculous but it Is a small
measure of improvement.

disgraceful fact is that they do not get the
respect. or the co-operation they deserve.
The name "cop" is disrespectful. let alone
some of the disparaging names they are
called. Every child should be taught to trust
and respect our police. Granted there are no
doubt some bad policemen but that is true in
all professions. The large majority are
dedicated guardians of the law and oqr
protection.
In the medical world of today there arc
specialists for almost any disease. it is not
etiough to feel ill and go to a doctor. You have
to know why you do not feel well so you know
what kind of a specialist you should 'see.

The government isnot rich. Many of us
roust think it is for we keep expecting more
and more funding for any number of reasons.
If government promises to give us some•
thing, it must first take it from us. Before it
can spend, it must take it from the people.
How often is it that what is given is taken from
those who can least afford it?

Cliff Bray, D.D. Grand Master of Huron
District 48100F and all lodges of the District
were honored•by the official visit of John L.
Savage Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of
Ontario 100F. This was held in the Brussels
Melville Presbyterian Church.
Bro. Bray was master of ceremonies. Sister
Linda Thomas entertained by singing two
solos.
Angela Petten of the Wingham. and
'District High School gave an interesting and
delightful talk on the educational, entertain-
ing and emotional aspects of her 10 day trip to
New York and her visit to a session of the
United Nations. Angela won a public
speaking contest available to pupils from the
District High Schools to compete. This trip
was sponsored by the Oddfellows and
Rebekahs of Huron Districts 48 and 23.
CHRISTMAS FAMILY NIa;HT
The Brussels Recreation Committee spon-
sored their annual Family Christmas Party on
Saturday niet.
After the dinner, the children were
entertained by a film followed by a visit front
Santa.
A number of draws,were made. The draw
for the Cabbage Patch Doll was wort by Peggy
Humphries of Walton.

McDonald of Huronview spent the weekend
with Mary and Murray,Huether. On Sunday
Karen Warwick of Oldes, Alberta; Mr. and
Mrs. Ken McDonald, Walton; Marguerite
Sanderson and Mr. and Mrs. Brian—Met her,
Sheri and Sandra of Brussels were also
present to visit with Karen.
Mr. and. Mrs. Clem McLellan, Mr, and
Mrs. Alvin McLellan, Sarah and Melissa, Mr.
and Mrs. Carl McLellan, Ronnie, Matthew
and Lance visited on Friday evening with Mr.
and Mrs. Alvin McLellan Sr, of Listowel to
help Mr. and Mrs. McLellan celebrate their
63rd wedding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Graber have returned
from a recent holiday in Niagara Falls to
celebrate their 14th wedding anniversary.
They visited some favorite places from years
past as well as taking in the sights of the falls.

Night tonight in the Brussels, Morris and
Grey Community Centre.
Vicki Machan recently graduated with
honours after taking a secretarial course from
Lougheed College in Kitchener. The gradua-
tion exercises took place in the Grand Ball
Room at Bingeman Park. She is presently
employed in Waterloo. Attending the gradu-
tion were her parents Mr. and Mrs. Doug
Machan of R.R. 5, Brussels and Bill Brophy of
Wingham.
On Nov. 18, the family of Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Topham of Guelph held a surprise
40th wedding anniversary party for them in
the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community
Centre, Approxir`nately 42 were present. The
family of Mr. and Mrs. Topham are Mr. and
Mrs. Jim Bridge of Brussels, Mr. and Mrs.
Bill Bridge of Caledonia, Mr. and Mrs. Ron
Topham and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Topham
both of the Clifford area. An open house
followed the meal, Guests attended from Port
Elgin. Mount Forest, Cambridge, Kurtzville
Listowel and area.
