On Thursday, Nov. 22 the St. Columban
Church choir celebrated the feast day of St.
Cecilia who is the patron saint of music and
choirs.
The celebration began with a mass offered
by Father H. Cassano in the parish rectory.
The choir members were present. A reading
on the life of St. Cecilia was given by
Angeline Swart. A social evening with
refreshments followed.
A large crowd of parishioners attended the
celebration Friday in honor of the patron
saint')of the parish — St, Columban.
Mass was offered by Fr. Henry Cassano
and Father Henry Kea as concelebrants.
The St. Columban Choir, under the
direction of Mary Coyne and organist
Patricia Crowley, supplied the music..
Father Kea gave a brief talk on the life and
work of St. Columban.
Following mass a fellowship and enter-
tainment took place in the parish hall.
The new gas furnace was blessed by
Father Kea. This was followed by a talent
show by the St. Columban school children
and the St. Columban Youth Club.
Light refreshments of coffee and squares
were served by, the St. Columban CWL

The Father Stephen Eckert Council of the
Knights of Columbus held their annual
turkey bingo on Sunday, Nov. 25 in the St.
Columban church hall.
The winners of a freshly dressed turkey
were Mrs. W.D, Wilson of Brucefield;
Karen Murphy, RR4, Seaforth; Jing Kelly of
Seaforth; Isabelle Rau of Seaforth; Stephen
Hickr e11, RR5 Seaforth; Jean Hodge of
Seaf h; Stephen Belfour, RR 5 Seaforth;
Jean Hodge of Seaforth; George Sweeney,
Vanastra; Don Moylan, St. Columban; Louis
Maloney of, Dublin; and Shirley Ryan of
Seaforth.
The first share -the -wealth was won by
Hilda Bach of Seaforth, the second by Bill
Murphy, Seaforth, the third by Mrs. Charles
Rau, and the fourth by Charles Rau and Lori
Harvey.
a. Door prizes were won by Luella Murphy
and Florence Devereaux.
Jeremy Michael, infant son of Gerry and
Karen Ryan was baptized on Sunday, Nov.
25 at St. Cdlumbtfn Roman Catholic Church
by Father Henry Cassano.
Jeremy's godparents are Helen Warren
and Dale Cronin.
Guests attending the baptismal ceremony
and later at the Ryan home 'were grandpar-
ents Delaine Cronin of Dublin and Clarence
and Cecilia Ryan of St. Columban, Dale
Cronin and Susan Coveny " Louise, Mary Jo
and Mark Ryan and Father Cassano.
Sympathy of the community is extended
to Francis and Marie Hicknell and family_
and Pete and Anna.. McLaughlin on the
recent death of Dorothy Manley of Stratford.
Many friends and neighbours from this area
attended the wake and funeral in Stratford.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Claessens of Milton and
Mr. and Mrs. Al Burgess and Andrea of
London visited on the weekend with Mr. and
Mrs. Matt Claessens.
Bicentennial celebrated at .Brodhagen
Correspondent Lutheran Church, Brodhagen on Sunday,
MRS. HERMAN LEONHARDT were in memory of Henry and Ella Rose.

family of Kitchener, Pastor and Mrs. Horst,
Mr. and Mrs. Jim McNaught, and Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Rock of Mitchell.
A bridal shower was held in the Sunday
School room at St. Peter's church on Sunday
afternoon for, Mary Jane Kaufman who will
become the bride of Kim Leonhardt next
month. Court Whist was enjoyed with Laurel
Roney high, and Phyllis Pfiefer low. Lunch
was served by the ladies who planned the
event including: Dorothy Elligsen, Margie
Beuermann, Mrs. Ross Kahle and Enid
Leonhardt.
Clara and Edith Meyer of Kitchener visited
with their sister Minnie Leonhardt and other
relatives on Monday and Tuesday.
BICENTENNIAL AWARDS
Sunday was a busy day at St. Peter's
Lutheran Church, Brodhagen. In the evening
the church was filled to capacity with people
coming from near and far to celebrate the
closing months of Ontario's Bicentennial.
A one act play was presented called
"Adams Journey". This play was written by
Karl Schuessler and presented at the LCA
Convention in Toronto in June.
The music by folk singer Debbie Lou
Ludolph was enjoyed. A vintage fashion show
added quite an attraction with many from the
congregation taking part as well as members
from Zion Lutheran Church and area of
Stratford.

ratifies
agreement
The Perth County Board of Education
ratified a one year agreement with its
caretakers and maintenance employees.
A five per cent increase in the total contract
package was ratified by the board following a
committee of the whole session.
The new contract which ends Aug. 31, 1985
gives a 47 cent per hour increase and an
additional 25, cent per hour increase for
'skilled maintenance employees.
The 45 full time workers will now make an
average hourly wage of 59.81 and the 35
part-time workers will receive an average of
38.50 per hour.
The employees, local 220 of the London and
District Service Workers Union, voted last
month to accept the agreement.

Joy McCowan of RR 4, Walton and Stella
Beattie of Stratford spent five days in
Lexington and Louisville Kentucky. While
there they visited several saddlebred horse
farms and went to see "Bret Hanover" at
Castleton Farm and "Secretariat" at Clair -
borne Farm. They attended three Registered
American Saddlebred sales. They also
attended the thorughbred sale at Kenneland
racetrack.
Joy McCowan attended the annual meet-
ing and banquet of The American Saddlebred
Horse Association of Ontario held at the
Valhalla Inn in Kitchener on Saturday.
Mervin Beuerman of RR 1, Dublin is a
patient in Stratford General Hospital. We
wish him a speedy recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Drager of RR 5.
Seaforth visited with Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Regele last week.
Joyce Hartman of Brucefield and Mrs.
Bet-ry of Seaforth visited with Mrs. Harold
McCallum on Thursday.
Lawn bowling
club holds social
The Nov, euchre and bridge social of the
Seaforth Lawn Bowling Club was held at the
Orange Hall recently.
Eight tables of euchre were in play and
prizes went to, ladies, Katie Phillips; high
mens, Lorne Dale; consolation. ladies, Ruby
Dolmage; men's, Andy Lunn.
Associate fees are now due for the coming
year. The next social will be Dec. 18 at 8 p.m.
