(Oke photo) Summer school principal's salary brought in gine Effective July 1, the salary of at summer school principal employed by the Perth County Board of Education will be increased to $2,600 from the current $1,365, At the board's regular meeting, the board . agreed to raise the salary to bring it in line with other school boards. Along with the salary increase, there is a change in the job description. Up till now, the summer school principal was hired in March for the summer school of that year. The principal is responsible for hiring summer school teachers and registering students, The new job descripyton calls for the summer school principal to start in the fall of the preceeding year of the actual summer school, During the fall and winter months there w'll be meetings with elementary school representatives and department heads at high schools to discuss summer school programs. tom February on; there will be the necessary hiring and registering and setting up of the summer school. There were about 130 municipal politicians and employees on hand for the full day session. Some of the speakers included Ontario Archives records analyst Sheila Linklater, Don McInnes from the Sebringvillc OPP, OPP Constable Glenn O'Rourke and police dog Trapper, as well as ministry of municipal affairs and housing representative Peter Jackson. The trial of Dr. Henry Morgentaler was briefly discussed at the Wingham Pro -Life meeting this month. It was felt' that Dr. Morgentaler is guilty of having "conspired to procure an abortion," the official charge against him. The judge, as was pointed out at the meeting, has instructed the jurors to consider whether the law as such had been broken. He also pointed out that the law itself 'was not on trial. Furthermore, according to the judge, the usual justifica- tion for abortion, namely that it is "necessary, does not apply in the Morgentaler case, The members of, Wingham Pro -Life deplore the fact that Canada's anti -abortion laws, by which such clinics are prohibited, are so easily flaunted. Abortions may be performed at present, but only in accredited hospitals, and then only when a committee of physicians approves. Even so, it does not seem difficult to get an abortion in Canada, as Statistics Canada reports that there are at (east 65,000 (registered) abortions per year in this country.
