A4 — THE HURON EXPOSITOR, NOVEEMeER 14, 1984 DUBLI1s1 AND AREA Christmas is a festive time Correspondent JOAN CRONIN 345-2772 It's here - "Snow" - aitd if you didn't see it falling, you sure could feel the cold. The children dance about with such joy and excitement and start looking for their sleigh and of course count the days until Santa arrives. Youngsters patiently sit and watch all the Santa Claus parades on television as the many bands, floats and clowns go by all in anticipation of the great man himself "Santa Claus '. But with the cold weather also comes the great mitten hunt. How could all of those dozens of pairs of mittens have vanished and when found, most often only one pf each pair is there. The toques, scarves, boots and snowmobile suits are dug out of storage only to find everybody grew again and the suits don't fit. Most often the clothes can be handed to the next one in line which helps out the Christmas budget. ,The ski enthusiasts are preparing their skis for the slopes and maybe even making plans to spend their Christmas vacation at,pne of the many resort lodges in the ski areas. For those who are not as fond of the snow, there is always the sunny south. The time has come to do the Christmas shopping --ooh what a thought. No wonder Santa Claus has grey hair. When 1 look at the lengthy list th'e youngsters have prepared and compare it with the budget, 1 get grey hair too. The stores look so festive and,l like -many, enjoy taking the children to walk about in the large shopping malls and just enjoy the creative work of those who plan the picturesque decorations. The animation, the colours and the workmanship is superb. Nov, is a very busy month for the farming community, The remainder of the corn must be harvested and the fields must be made ready for next spring by ploughing. The cattle are brought off grass lands and the dairy herds are now indoors forthe cold winter which makes for more barn chores. Life never gets too tiresome as the seasons change and our activities and workload adjusts with the time.
