Playoffs continue
In the Men's Industrial Ball League on
Aug. 22 Mainstreet beat the Firemen in the
early game.
The late game between the Queens and
Villagers was rained out in the third inning.
On Aug. 26, the Villagers beat the Queens
11 to 7.
On Aug. 27 the Queens won against the
Villagers 8-7,
The Creamery, Queens, Bears and Main -
street all move to the second round of
playoffs.

Sportsfest biggest yet
Approximately 115 Seaforth athletes
attended what turned out to be the largest
and most successful Sportsfest in theght
year history of the event.
Staged in Kincardine on Aug. 17-18 the
event drew an estimated 3,800 competitors
to its 33 events, almost double last year's
figures. It was co-sponsored by the Lake
Huron Zone Recreationists Association and
the host town.
Seaforth was represented in basketball,
darts, slo-pitch, senior's shuffleboard,
squirt girls softball, swimming, co-ed
two -pitch and beach volleyball.
Tracy Fortune of Seaforth finished first
overall in the nine to 10 years category in
swimming. The two -pitch and volleyball
teams were consolation finalists,
"The object of this event ie to be a fun,
low key competition," said Bryan Peter,
, Seaforth recreation director. "They had a
lot of fun on the weekend."
Sportsfest is scheduled to take place in
Exeter in 1985. Seaforth hosted the event
last year,

RECREATION PREVIEW

A general discussion with all groups will be
held from 2:45 to 3:30 p.m. which will
hopefully address some key issues and bring
suggestions and solutions to some immediate
concerns. Advance information has been
mailed to over 70 groups which include
summer and winter groups, schools and
churches, arts and cultural groups, service
clubs and community groups.
Each group is allowed to send two
delegates each for a fee of $5 per person.
including lunch. If your group has not yet
registered. please do so immediately.
If your group did not receive the
information, please contact me personally.
We hope to help all groups by holding this
conference and by providing some training
and the opportunity to learn from and
exchange information with other local
groups.
THE SUMMER OLYMPICS GAMES will
be held at the Seaforth Library on Thursday,
Aug, 30 at 2 p.m. Boys and girls ages 6-12
years are welcome. The wrap-up for the
Summer Reading program will also be held
with certificates and medals awarded to
outstanding readers and athletes. The
raindate is Friday, Aug. 31.
All three SUMMER RECREATION PRO-
GRAMS concluded successful seven week
sessions last Friday. Record numbers of
participants joined the fun in the LIT Teen
Program, Playground and Playschool.
Congratulations and thanks goes to all the
dedicated staff who included Faye Carno•
chan, Clendon Coombs, Lynne Dodds, Barry
Campbell, Dave McLlwain, 'Debbie Dins-
more, Lori Strong, Leo Teatero, Brenda
Wesenberg, and Sandra Hulley. These young
students performed their duties in a manner
that makes the community proud of them.
SPORTSFEST '84 was held in Kincardine
this summer, Aug. 17 to 19. Seaforth had a
good turn -out with approximately 115 parti-
cipants involved in mens and ladies slo-pitch.

In recent weeks we have had some inquiries about the
photographs that appear in the birthday, engagement and
wedding segments of our paper.
For optimum photograph reproduction in the newspaper, the
following standards for photographic submissions are suggest-
ed.
1, Black. and White photographs are
recommended, not colour. (Colour photo-
graphs will be accepted but their reproduc-
tion quality is not guaranteed.)
2. Good contrast between subject and
background.
3. Submit a photograph that is approxi-
mately the size you want it to appear.
