Pigs sell higher at Brussels stockyards
the market at Brussels Stockyards traded
acti'.ely at higher prices on the choice cattle
with medium cattle steady. Pigs sold sharply
higher. There were 735 cattle and 970 pigs on
offer.
Choice Steers -84;00 to 88.00 with sales to
90,50.
Crowd Steers -81.00 to 84.00.
A steer consigned by Murray Forbes of
R.12. 42, Clinton weighing 1290 lbs. sold for
90,St) with his lot of 15 steers averaging 1322
lbs selling for 86.25.
A steer consigned by Bruce Bros. of
Bclgrave weighing 1460 lbs. sold for 87.25
with their lot of 13 steers averaging 1275 lbs.
selling for 84.40.
Twelve steers consigned by Murray
McKague of R.R. 42, Wingham averaging
1118 lbs. sold for an overall price of 86,40 with
sales to 87,75.
Six steers consigned by Keith Johnston of
R.R. 112, Biuevale, averaging 1223 lbs. sold
for an overall price'of 85.80.
Fourteen steers consigned by Maple
Emblem Farms of Dungannon averaging
1075 lbs. sold for an overall price of 84.62.
Eleven steers consigned by Harold John-
ston of R.R. N4, Wingham averaging 1249
lbs, sold for an overall price of 84.40.
Choice exotic heifers -83.00 to 87.00 with
sales to 89,00.
Choice Hereford Heifers -80,00 to 83,00.
A heifer' consigned by Jack Flanagan of
R,R. 41 Dublin weighing 1'220 lbs. sold for
89.00 with his offering of 32 heifers averaging
1019 lbs. selling for an overall price of 84.55.
Ten heifers consigned by Murray Fischer
of R.R. N3 Brussels averaging 1042 lbs. sold
for an overall price of 87.00 with sales to
88.00. •
Eighteen heifers consigned by Wayne
Garner of R.R. 43, Embro averaging 952 Ihs.
sold for an overall price of 83.15 with sales to
86.25.
Thirteen heifers consigned by Robert
McKague of R.R. 112, Wingham, averaging
1081 lbs. sold for an overall price of 85.70 with
sales to 87.00.
Two heifers consigned by Wilfred Short -
reed of R.R. 41 Walton averaging 1030 lbs.
sold for 84.30 with his lot of four heifers
averaging, 1020 lbs. selling for 83.30.
Eight heifers consigned by Martin Murray
of Seaforth averaging 988 -lbs, sold for an
overall price of 83.17 with sales to 84.75.

59,50.

The Walton Squirt annual hall tournament
was held at the Walton park Friday evening
and Saturday.
All games except finals were five innings.
The first game Friday evening saw
Brussels win over Brodhagen 4-3, Neil Pipe
and Andrew McCutcheon combined to strike
out eight Brodhagen players. Craig Goffec
struck out six in a losing cause.
Mitchell won the 8:30 ganic over Sebring-
ville 11.6,
The games began Saturday morning at
9;00 a.m. with Walton winning over Win-
throp 9.2.
Tim Nolan struck out 12 for Walton and
Doug Campbell fanned six for Winthrop.
Tony Greidanus had two home runs for
Winthrop.
In the 10:15 game, Gowanstown swamped
WinghaOl 20-0. Lowell Frey had ts'o home
runs for Gowanstown.
In the 11:30 game, Brodhagen shut out
Sebringville 7-0. Brodhagen advanced to the
"B" final and Sebringville was eliminated.
Craig Goffar struck out nine and Rob
Jarntulh had a home run for Brodhagen.
Brussels won 6-0 over Mitchell in the 12:45
game. Andrew McCutcheon struck out 11 for
Brussels. Brussels advanced to A finals.
Mitchell was eliminated.
In the 1:30 p,m. game, Winthrop won over
8-4. Wingham. Doug Campbell hit a home
run.
Walton shut out Gowanstown 2-0 to
advance to the "A" finals in the next game.
Gowanstown was eliminated. Tim Nolan
struck out 11 for Walton.
The "B" finals were seven innings and
Brodhagen won over Winthrop 16-5. Craig

In the fourth inning..Andrew McCutcheon
struck out the Walton side, Brussels got one
run to make it 2-1.
Manny Taylor led off the fifth inning with a
double but was thrown out at third base with

Mr. and Mrs. John A. Perrie spent a week
in Halifax recently and visited with their son
Will who works at Bedford Institute. They
also attended two family picnics, the Youngs
on Aug. 12 and the McCall's on Aug. 19 in
Seaforth Lions Park.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hart spent several days
on a trip to Iron Bridge where Jim enjoyed a
fishing holiday.
Dana Stevenson. daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Steven8on, Toronto, spent a week
visiting at the home of her grandparents. Mr.
and Mrs. Stuart Stevenson and girlfriends in
Brussels.
Laura Saxon, London, spent a few days
with her parents John and Mrs. Saxon and
brother Eddie.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Workgpan, Craig and
Peter enjoyed a few days in..the Kingston and
Peterborough area.
Mrs. Ross Engel accompanied Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon Hulley and Mrs. Harry Johnson
to the Hulley -Aldred wedding in. Hamilton on
Aug: 18. Mr. gttd Mrs. Hulley are parents of
the groom and Mrs. Engel is an aunt.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Minietly and Richard
were guests at the Cable-Minielly wedding in
forest on Aug. 18. The bride is a sister of Jim.
Leanne returned home after spending the
summer away.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Cotton were in Hanover
on Saturday evening where they attended the
Rotary Corn Festival. They were accompan-
ied by Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Starr and
daughter Kim, of Wallaceburg. and Lori of
Kitchener, and son Steve, Geralton. Kim
sang as part of, the evening program.
Mrs. Patrick Adams and daughter Maur-
een of Manotick are spending holidays with
her parents Clare and Mrs. Veitch.
Me. and Mrs. Joel Chappel, Baldwin,
spent a few days with their son-in-law and
daughter Jim and Mrs. Minietly.
