Perth B of Ed sets
Students will have some say in the work of a
guidance review -committee set up by the
Perth County Board of Education.
Trustee Don Crowley said he has learned
that students view a visit to the guidance
counsellor "as a good reason for getting out
of class". He made the comments at the
board's Aug. 21 meeting prior to approving
the guidance review committee.
The need for changes in the guidance
department in Perth schools was brought to
the attention of the board during recent

up guidance, review
"Presentations made by members of the
public delegation drew attention to alleged
limitations -in the counselling service now
available, to secondary school students
through school guidance departments,
which, they felt, emphasized the need for
supplemental counselling of the type they
were advocating. Such allegations attest to
the need for a study of existing guidance
services such as the one now proposed,"
states the board order paper.
Principals, teachers and trustees will make
up the committee which will report to the
board in December.
