every evening from now until 1 leave will be
busy saying good-bye and good luck to
friends going to other schools.
It is a scary feeling to see some of my best
friends going in an opposite direction from
me to school. Chances are there will be few
weekends in which we all come home at the
same time, so I suppose we will have to rely
on our pens and papers when we write
letters back and forth.
Then Ithere- are the older people in town
who 1 ash really going to miss, These people
really know how to, brighten up my day.
Often I will be downtown, perhaps getting
the mail or sho ping and I will meet up with
BY PATRICIA ROMER
The last two weeks off summer are always
depressing and rushed to a certain degree.
Suddenly students discover they're limited
in time and they have left all of their errands
until the last minute. Store keepers must ,
have a hay day with the last minute shoppers.
This , summer is particularly depressing
and rushed for me since along with the usual
errands I must run before school begins on
Sept. 5 1 have to prepare both mentally and
physically to move awayirom home to Sarnia
where I will be studying.
My family has not always lived in
Seaforth. Until 1 was approximately 31/2
years old we lived in Pickering village east of
Toronto. However, moving there was not a
trauma for me as 1 was too young to realize
the effect of moving and 1 didn't have to help
pack. •
About two years later we moved from our
house on James Street to the house we

public school. Why 1 kept those 1 will never
how but now that I have kept them through
all of the years it would be a shame to throw
them Mitt so they remain. When 1 finally do
throw something out it always seems that
within a week 1 will find a need for It.
Before Labor Day I will have to have all of
my things packed that I need for school, buy
some 'books and supplies, finish the last of
my shopping and say goodbye to some good
friends. ith only two more weeks to go one of my elderly friends, .They almost

wasn't actively involved in ,this •move as 1
spent the day with friends. Besides we only
moved half a block away.
But now as I prepare to leave for college 1
find the job of packing my belongings into
boxes a long and hard thing to do. I had an
awful time one night last' week as 1 sat
amongst my piles of old clothes, papers,
letters, books and other valuables that 1 have
collected in my closet over the years. The job
was taking forever as while I sorted 1 read
ever letter and glanced through every note
I must be the world's worst pack rat since I
believe in keeping everything. I figure that
sometime somewhere I will find a use for all
of my junk. (but I never do) While digging
through my things I discovered notebooks
