Daisy DeBolt sings
Daisy De,B'olt, formerly of the well-known
folk duo Fraser and DeBolt, will appear in
Country Hearts, opening at the Blyth
Festival Aug. 21 and playing through to
Sept. 15.
Daisy's varied musical career includes
everything from touring to choreography,
film scores to recording, and live perform-
ances that are electrifying. She has just
completed a tour with the Theatre du
Nouvel-Ontario production of "Nickel".
Daisy's concert performances include
appearances at Convocation Hall; with
Sylvia Tyson at Harbourfront; at the
Northern Lights (Sudbury), Manitoulin
Island, and Winnipeg Folk Festivals; and
Scuffers and the Rtvbli Theatre in Toronto.
She has also appeared on such CBC
programmes as "Touch the Earth", "Morn-
ingside", Laurier Lapierre, "Variety To-
night", and Mr. Dressup.
Writing of her in Miss Chatelaine, Paul
Goddard said: "Every so often she emerges
to give a concert with songs that meld
together elements of everything from jazz to
comity - and with a voice that's as
controlled and pliable as anyone's around."
Daisy joined the rest of the cast (Robert
King, Ross Skene, John Roby, Patricia
Vanstone, Anne Anglin, Terry Harford,
David Fox, Sandy. Crawley, Denise Ken-
nedy, 'Robert Nasmith, Ron Gabriel) for
rehearsals Monday; July 30. She will play
"Sam", lead singer of Sam Slick and the
Slowpokes - a country and western band. .
Country Hearts was first performed at the
Blyth Festival in 1982 and was a box office
smash: The 1984 version has terrific new
songs written by John Roby in addition -to
the favourites from 1982.
• Theatre New Brunswick in Frederiction
will be producing Country .Hearts in 1985
and that production will then tour to the
National Arts Centre in Ottawa.
