Murray family
has 46th
reunion in
Goderich
In spite of uncertain weather, the 46th
annual Murray reunion was held in Harbour
Park. Goderich on Sunday, July 15.
Angus Murray and his wife, Francis came
from Stonehaven, Scaotland around 1851 to
settle on the Goshen line, lot 19, con. 10 of
Stanley Township. Their four daughters and
one son grew up in Huron County.
Descendants of three daughters, Jane.
Mrs. Geo. Saunders; Annie, Mrs. Andrew
Reid and Mary, Mrs. Wm. Palmer renewed
old acquaintances, along with a number of
friends. Fifty-six persons signed the register
and two smorgasbord meals were enjoyed
during the day.\
The oldest lady present was 86 -year• -old
Belle Reid from Bayfield and the oldest man
was 86 -year-old Frank Saunders from
Bobcaygeon. The youngest person was three
year-old Colleen McChnchey of Goderich.
The family corning the greatest distance
was the Saunders of Bobcaygeon: Frank.
daughters Betty and Renee and son-in-law
Sam Headon. Others travelling a distance
were from Michigan, London, Waterloo and
Wellesley.
The couple celebrating their wedding
anniversary the day of the picnic was Diane
and Gary Beach of Stirling Hts. Mich. The
most recent grandparents were Mary and
Gordon Saunders, Royal Oak, Michigan.
The family who made the greatest effort to
attend the picnic was Jean Jamieson, a
patient of Clinton Hospital. her daughter
and son-in-law Janene and Doug Wise and
three sons. twins Derrick and Darryl and
Jason.
A relaxing evening was spent listening to
the music of the Huron Strings and Huron
Ramblers.
The 1985 reunion will be held once again
on the third Sunday of July at Harbour Park,
Goderich.
