Minor baseball goes into playoffs

MINOR BASEBALL teams are approach-
ing the playoffs after a busy regular season.
In boys' baseball, Seaforth and Hanover will
be playing off in the Tyke series; in the Pee
Wees, Seaforth will play the winner of
Hanover and Kincardine; Wingham will
tackle Seaforth in the Bantam division; in the
Midget category, Seaforth will play the
winner of Listowel and Kincardine, The Pee
Wee and Bantam Girls will be starting
playoffs shortly but no details are known to
date.
Ladies' softball
Ken Murray Electric defeated Ken Smith
Pools 25-5 in the early game of July 24. Ken
Murray were big hitters with Kathy O'Reilly
hitting 2 doubles, a home run and a triple;
Hessie Kipfer had a home run and 2
doubles; Donna McLlwain hit 2 doubles and
a triple; Dianne McGrath hit 2 doubles;
Debbie Murray hit 2 home runs ,.and Rose
Bisback had a home run.
Patty Ann Gridzak and Diane Gridzak hit a
double each for Ken Smith Pools.
Late game action saw the Queens down
McNichols 18-10.
Hitting for McNichols were Deb Martin
with a double and Nancy Storey -.belted out a
triple.

Winners of the Ladies Recreational
Softball League draw are as follows: trip to
Wheels Inn, Chatham was won by D.C.
McLean, Vanastra; basket of glass bats went
to J.R. McLachlan, RR#3 Kippen and a 56
oz. glass bat went to Danny Gowing,
Kitchener.

JUNIOR TENNIS INTERCLUB finals were
held last week in Stratford. In the Boys 18
years and under category, Darren Crocker
placed first and Trevor Price finished in
second place. In the Boys 14 years and under
category, Terry Gray captured first place,
Congratulations to these winners and to the
other players from Seaforth who participated
in the tournaments. This was the first year for
.Seaforth to participate in these area tourna-
ments with players from Mitchell. Sebring.
ville and Stratford.
SENIOR GAMES are being held in
Seaforth during the month of August. Lawn
bowling and checkers are tentatively sched-
uled for Wednesday, Aug. 15; on Wednes-
day, Aug.22, contract bridge and shuffle-
board will be held at the arena; golf and
horseshoes will be held at the Golf Club on
Wednesday, Aug. 29, Registration forms are
available at the Town Hall and the Recreation
Office and they must be returned no later
than one week prior to the date of the event.
All events will begin at 9 a.m.
Are there any GYMNASTICS INSTRUCT-
ORS out there? We would like to start a
gymnastics program this fall but we need an
Instructor. If you ate interested and qualified,
please contact the Recreation Office.
