Manor residents pick their first tomatoes of the year
Wednesday afternoon 'worship services
were held by Shirley Luther of the Salvation
Army with full attendance by the residents.
Residents were busy outdoors on Thurs-
day, working in the flower beds, picking their
first tomatoes from the vines; then enjoyed
their weekly barbecue on the patio under
cloudy skies but warm jemperatures.

The Huron County Chapter of the Ontario , Two local schools raised money through

PAUL NEILANDS
Paul Harpur Neilands, 64, of 111 Richmond
Street South, Hensall died Friday, July 27 at
his residence.
' Reeve of the Village of Hensall from 1980 to
1982, he was also a councillor for the years
1971 to 1979, a member of the Hensall Parks
Board and a member of Huron County
Council from 1980 to 1982. Mr. Neilands was
also Past President of Hensall Branch 4468 of
the Royal Canadian Legion.

Surviving are his wife, the former Alice
Beaulieu, four daughters, Sheila, Mrs. Lloyd
Regier, of RRl Hensall, Rosemarie, Mrs. Ron
Hibbert, of London, Kathy, Mrs. Terry
Luther, of Calgary, Alberta and Suzy, at
home, five sons, Tom, off Hensall, Norman, off
London, John, of Saskatoon, Gerry, of
Hensall and Michael, of London, one brother,
John Neilands, off California, and 15 grand-
children.
Celebration of the funeral mass was held
on Monday, July 30 at Saint Boniface Roman
Catholic Church, Zurich. interment Saint
Boniface Cemetery, Zurich. Parish prayers
and a Legion memorial service were conduct-
ed in the Hensall Chapel of the Michael P.
O'Connor Funeral Homes on Sunday eve-
ning.
IDA MUNN
Ida Etta (Jones) Munn, 90. of 156
Richmond Street South, Hensall, died on
Wednesday, -July 25 at South Huron
Hospital, Exeter.
She was predeceased by her husband John
Robert Munn in 1949, two sons Cecil and
Harold and three brothers.
Surviving are five sons, Ted of Waterloo,
Jack of Ipperwash, Alex, Gordon and Donald.
all of Hensall, three daughters, Dorothy,
Mrs. Gordon T. Munn, of Stoney Creek,
Helen Ferrigno and Betty, Mrs. Jack
Simmons, both of Hensall, 30 grandchildren
and 34 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in the Hensall
Chapel of Michael P. O'Connor Funeral
Homes, Hensall, on Friday, July 27 with Rev.
Stan McDonald officiating. Interment Hen-
sall Union Cemetery.
Donations to Hensall United Church will be
accepted as expressions of sympathy.
EDWARD BYERS
Edward A. Byers, 83. of Chalk Street,
Seaforth died Saturday, July 21 at Seaforth
Community Hospital.
Surviving are his wife, the former Helen
Kenny, three daughters. Geraldine John-
ston, of Londesboro, Jean MacEachern, of
Cambridge and Verna Edgar. of Stratford.
two sons, Alvin, of Kitchener and Gordon, of
Mitchell, two brothers, one sister, 17
grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by three sisters.
Funeral services were held at the Whitney-
Ribey Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 24.
Interment Front Line Church Cemetery,
Logan Township.
BARBARA CARTER
Barbara (Chesney) Carter, 36, of Lorne
Avenue. Burford. died Sunday July 29 at
McMaster Medical Centre, Hamilton.
Surviving are her husband. Leslie Carter,
one daughter, Kyla and one son, David. and
her mother, Isabel Chesney. She was
predeceased by her father. Mac Chesney.
Friends may call at the Whitney Ribey
Funeral Home, Seaforth until Wednesday
Aug. 1 at 2:30 p.m. when funeral services

KRIS WHIDDEN
Kristi (Kris) Hakola Whidden. 68. of
Goderich, died Saturday. July 28 at Alexan-
dra Marine and General Hospital.
Surviving are her husband, Fred Whidder ,
two sons, Robert Lortie, of Seaforth and
Anthony Whidden, of Goderich and two
grandchildren Renee Lortie of Toronto and
Christopher Whidden. of Goderich.
Funeral services were held in the chapel of
the Stiles Funeral Home, Goderich on
Tuesday. July 31. Interment Maitland
Cemetery.
