On July 14, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Knight were
honored at a party in the auditorium of the
Brussels, Morris and Grey Community
Centre for their 25th wedding annivel•sary.
Jack Knight was master of ceremonies.
Ross Knight showed pictures of the wedding
25 years ago. Their family includes Brenda
and Gerry Wheeler, Carla and Karen Knight.
They presented a humorous reading.
Guests were present from Windsor,
Toronto, Tiverton, Cambridge, Exeter, Lis-
towel, Atwood and surrounding area.
ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATED
On July 14 a surprise party was held on the
lawn of Mel and Lois McArter, to celebrate
their 25th wedding anniversary. Friends and
family attending were from the Walton ,. Ethel
and Brussels area.
4-H MEETING
On July '17, Brussels II and Bluevale
III combined meeting five and had as their
guest Shirley Wheeler. Pam McLellan
opened the meeting.
Mrs. Wheeler talked about landscaping,
how to beautify your horse and get the right
trees and shrubs to accent your hou3e, and
property not to get too big or too small .
She spoke on rock gardens and said it's
important to have the right slope to show the
rocks and flowers off. Next was vegetables
and spray. The right type of vegetable to
prepare for showing at a fair, its size, colour
and texture.

The group also discussed becoming floral
arrangers. Mrs. Wheeler demonstrated a
mantel arrangement, a cup and saucer
arrangement made. with .cornflowers, a
dining room table piece and one for a
bedroom or small room done in a small vase.
BRIDAL SHOWER
On July 18, Lillian and Lori Appleby hosted
a miscellaneous shower for Joyce Gordon.
Approximately 30 people attended. A table
cloth that had been liquid embroidered had
all the guests names signed on.
lona McLean and Velma Elliott presented
corsages to the special guests. Mrs. Appleby
welcomed everyone and read a poem called a
"Marriage Recipe",
A card game was held and Lillian read a
poem called "Advice to the Bride". She also
read the address to Joyce.
Joyce, her mother Dorothy, her sister
Brenda and niece Donna Paradis from B.C.
opened the gifts. Isabelle Craig who
embroidered the tablecloth presented it to
Joyce.
HORTICULTURAL NEWS
Monday, July 16, Brussels and District
Horticultural Society took a bus trip to several
points of interest including, the Greenhouse
at Dresden, dinner and a tour of the flour mill
at Ancaster, and the Botanical Gardens at
Hamilton.
A stop at the Stone Road Mill at Guelph
ended an enjoyable day for 45 members and
friends. A reminder to everyone of the flower
show and turkey supper coming up in August
at St. John's Anglican Church.

Visiting with Joan Exel are her sisters, Rie
van Veldhuizen, let Jansen and her sister-in-
law Ada Exel all from the Netherlands. Also
visiting with Mrs. Exel were her son Chris
and his wife Janine off Rossburn, Manitoba,
Visiting with Murray .and Mary Huether.

A number of people fron►,the Brussels area
attended the Buck and Looe held for Chuck
Dow and Joyce Gordon in the Seaforth -
Legion on July 21.

Members of the families of Mr. and Mrs.
Hector Hamilton of Gorrie, Mr. and Mrs.
Melville Beecroft of Otterville, Mr. and Mrs.
Gilbert Beecroft and Mrs. Eccles Dow of
East Wawanosh Township -gathered at the
Wawanosh Conservation Area Park on
Sunday for a family reunion. They also
celebrated the 40th wedding anniversary of
Beatrice and Hector Hamilton.
Forty seven relatives enjoyed a smorgas-
bord picnic dinner. •
Guests attended from Winnipeg, Toronto,
Brantford, Wtsa a Beach, London, Brock-
ville, Bowmanville, Clinton, Fergus and
Westfield.
THIRD REUNION
The third annual Johnston -Akins reunion '
was held on Sunday in the Belgrave W.I.
Hall with 38 present.
An afternoon of games and races, was
enjoyed, after which a smorgasbord sui,Der
was served by the lunch committee Mrs.
Ross Higgins and Mrs. Ken Simmons.
Officers for next year are; President, Mrs.
Jean Le Pine; secretary treasurer, Mrs.
George Johnston; games, Kevin Johnston
and Bruce Higgins; lunch, Mrs, Ross
Higgins and Mrs. Ken Simmons..
Relatives, attended from Windsor, Lon-
don, Ilderton, Brussels and Wingham.
The family coming the farthest distance
included Lois Baker and her daughter Phyllis
Harman and grandchildren Beth, Erin and
Rob of Michigan,
PEOPLE WE KNOW
Mr. and Mrs. Brian Shaw 'of London, and
Mr. and Mrs. Les Shaw of Belgrave returned
home after attending the wedding of the
latter's nephew, Kelly Shaw and Debbie
Jerrard on July 14 in the Mount Royal
United Church, Moncton, New Brunswick.
Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Vincent spent the
weekend In London with their daughter and
son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Jim Taff. They
attended the wedding of their grandson
Douglas Taff and Dianne Clark in Trinity
