SDHS honor students are backbone of school
Students of Seaforth District High
School who earned an average of 75 per cent
cdmore were recognized at the annual honor
banquet Wednesday night.
"It's no small achievement to be an honor
student", vice-principal, Jim Moore told
close to 80 students and their parents.
Described as the backbone of the school by
principal Harry Scott, honor students are also
the people who have enjoyed and participated
in high schoolii "This is only part of what you
will accompish, he said.
Honor students in grade nine included,
Laurie Crocker, Joan Dodds, Rhonda Farag,
Kimberley Fritz, Donna Godkin, Martha
Hook, Debbie Melady, Patrick Murray,
Lynne Penner, Lisa Preszcator, Mike Schoon-
derwoerd, Kathy Scoontiens and Peter
Vanslyke.
In grade 10, the honor students were Diane
Armes, Darlene Baker, Lisa Bennewies, Joan
Binnendyk, Missy Caldwell, Scott Driscoll,

James, Patrick Jew, Mark Jones, Mary
Margaret Kelly, Jeff McGavin, Marie Perrie,
Christine Preszcator, Cheryl Regele, June
Rivers, Brent Robinson, Cherry( Smith and
Joyanne Van Vliet.
In grade 11 were: Debbie Barry, Michelle
Braecker, Paul Dodds, Darryl Finnigan,
Janet Hoggarth, David Hook, Glenda Lam-
merant, Anne Marie Maloney. Lynn Nigh,
Dan Nolan, Marg Nolan, Henrietta Reinink,
Anne Ryan, Mark Ryan, Bruce Scott, Kathy
Turnbull, Linda Van Dyk, Helen Van Loon,
Vanessa Vyhnal and Brenda Wesenberg.
Those earning an average of 75 per cent or
more in grade 12 were Peter Boven, Barry
Campbell, Lucille Delaney, Dorothy Dyk,
Blaine Hackwell, Don Hickson, Marijo Kale,
Cathy Kelly, Alexene McIver, Darlene
Moore, Lori Strong, Jane Van de Ban, Shiela
Van Dorp and (iesa Wisch.
Honor students in 'grade 13 were Faye
Carnochan, Debbie Costello, Elaine Dennis,
June Haney, Anne Marie Kelly, Joanne
Knight, Jeff McKellar, David- Murray,
Wayne Ryan, Gale Turnbull, Rosie Van Dyk
and Harold Wiederman.
Honour students for four years include
Peter Boven, Barry Campbell, Lucille De-
laney, Dorothy Dyk, June Haney, Don
Hickson, Marijo Kale, Cathy Kelly, Joanne
Kight, Darlene Moore, Lori Strong, Gale
Turnbull, Jane Van de Ban and Sheila Van
Dorp.
The group of students who have obtained
honour standing in each of their five years at
high school include Faye Carnochan, Debbie
Costello, Elaine Dennis, Anne Marie Kelly,
Jeff McKellar, David Murray, Wayne Ryan,
Rosie Van Dyk and Harold Wiederman.
Students who earned 80 per cent or more in
grade 13 will be nominated as Ontario
Scholars. They include Faye Carnochan,
June Haney, Jeff McKellar, Valerie Millson,
Wayne Ryan, Gale Turnbull, Rosie Van Dyk
and Harold Wiederman,

and Mrs. James Knight, of Brussels and
Gerald Stanley Wheeler, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Lloyd Wheeler, of RR Ethel were married on
May i1 by the bride's uncle, Rev, Kenneth
Knight at the Presbyterian Church in
Brussels. Maid of honor was Vickie Gamble
and bridesmaids were Carla and Karen
Knight. Flowergirls were Erica and Jennifer
Wheeler and ringbearers were Trevor
Wheeler and Michael McDonald. John
McDonald was best man and ushers were
Bruce Raymond and Don McCall. The
reception was held at the Brussels. Morris
and Grey Community Centre. After a
wedding trip to Freeport, Bahamas, the
couple will reside in Brussels.

and Ruth Beales, of Toronto and Lyle Hoegy.
of Sarnia, son of Lavern and Greta Hoegy. of
RRI Dublin were married on Saturday. June
16 in the garden at the bride's parents home.
Maid of honor was Jayne Lewis, of Toronto
and bridesmaid was Jenna Beales. of
Toronto. Groomsman was Doug Hoegy. of
RRI Dublin. Catherine Cook officiated. The
reception was held at the bride's parents'
home. After their wedding trip to Mexico. the
couple will reside at 80 Fairview Cr.. Sarnia.
VINCENT- OSBORNE
Joan Elizabeth Osborne. daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Osborne, of RR5 Lucknow
and Neil Graham Vincent, of RR3 Wingham,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Vincent. of
Belgrave were married on May 19 at St.
Andrew's United Church, Ripley in a double
ring ceremony with Rev. Glen Macpherson
officiating. Maid of honor was Joyce
Osborne. of Lucknow and bridesmaids were
Sheila Osborne, of RRS Lucknow. and
Shannon McConnell, of RRS, Kincardine.
Angela Vincent, of Riverview, New Bruns-
wick was the flowergirl and Vaughn Vincent.
of RRI Belgrave was the ringbearcr.
Groomsman was Donald Vincent. of River-
view, New Brunswick and ushers were Grant
Vincent. of Belgrave and Kevin Osborne. of
RR 5 Lucknow. The organist was Mrs.
Duncan McCallum. the pianist was Mrs.
Calvin McConnell and the soloist was
Shannon McConnell. The retfcption was held
at the Ripley -Huron Community Centre.

FRANCININE T. VISSER. daughter of Joe and
Rose Visaer of R.R. #5 Seaforth received her
Honors Bachelor of Arts degree in French at
Wilfrid Laurier University's Spring Convoca-
tion held May 27 at the Kitchener Memorial
Auditorium. She is also a graduate of St.
Cohamban Separate School and Seaforth
District High School. Francine will be going
to work in France for a year after which she
plans to go to Teacher's College.
BRIAN GRANT FINNIGAN. son of Dilys and
the late Grant Mackay Finnigan. received his
Bachelor of Laws Degree at University of
Western Ontario, Spring Convocation June 8.
Brian attended Huron Centennial and Sr a -
forth District High School and received his
Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University
of Western Ontario. He is presently articling
with Waterous-Holden & Amey of Brantford,
Ontario.
