died. Mary Letitia Osborne was 18
years and 5 mouths old, and her sadden
death cast a cloud over the entire com-

Mr. Archie Todd has sold his farm
just to the east end of Walkerton, and
will give possession on the first of Feb-
ruary. The farm contains 150 acres

An old and familiar figure around
Dunlop for the past thirty-six years has
"removed in the person of D. Cumming,
well-known architect and builder. He
and his wife left last week for Chicago,
where they intend to reside for a term
of years having rented their house and
premises to Johu Ryan, the wollknown
thresher.
Mary A. O'Connell, Middle Stewiacke,

An explosion took place in the woo -
euware factory of the United Factories,

'We refer to the death of Mrs. James
Dorrauce, of the 5th concession of Mc-
Killop, which took place at the residence
of her sou, Mr. George B. Dorrance, on
Friday, Noy. 13th. Mrs Dorrauce, had
reached the good age of 76 years. She
was a native of County Cavan, Ireland.
She was married to Mr. Dorrance is 1855,
Miss Florence Buchanan, now at God-
erich Model School, has been engaged to
teach a school in Ashfield township in
Lncknow locality, for 1004 at a salary of
$300.; Miss Buchanan is a daughter of
Mark Buchanan, of Brussels.
Mr. Henry Koehler, tir., a pioneer of
the Goshen line, died ou Monday of last
week at the age of 85 years. Up to
about a year ago he was a hard-working
farmer, rising early and working late,
day in and day out.

On Wednesday, Nov. 18th, Lucy, the
fifth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George
Colvin, of Brussels South, passed away,
at the age of 16 years, six months, and
24 days. Consumption was the cause of
death. Deceased had been a sufferer for
n number of years.

about 10 days, developes in these periods:
Egg from laying to hatching, one-third
of a day; hatching of larva to first molt,
one day; second molt to pupation, three
days; pupation to issuing of the adult,
five days.

The St. Catharines Well.
The admirable train service that is op-
erated ou the Grand Trunk Railway Sys-
tem makes it a pleasure for travellers to
reach the many points located ou its lues.
One of the prominent places is St. Cath-
arines, Ontario, where the famous St.
Catharines' Well, Canada's great health
resort is located. It is noted for its eel -
on the 5th concesson of McKillop, and eel -
me baths, and thousands of people from
on which she continued to r' side until
her death. Mr. Dorrance died about
fourteen years ugo.
In the death of Moses Stewart which
took place ou Friday, Nov. 13th, Walk-
erton loses one of her very oldest citizens.
He was a native of Scotland and came
to Walkerton 52 years ago. He was a
shoemaker by trade and worked at his
trade for a number of years after his ar-
rival. Then he farmed for a while but
finally sold out and retired to a secluded
situation near the exhibition grounds.
Here he continued to live until the day
of his death, In the early .days he took
quite an afive part
in public affairs,
,
and was a member of the first town
council, the late Joseph Walker being
mayor, and the late W. McVicar reeve.

John Claxton, aged 85, and Matilda
Reid, aged 83, widow of the late Wm.
Reid, better known as Orange Billy,
were joined in holy bonds of wedlock on
Wednesday of last week. They are
certainly a spry pair. The groom,s first
wife died last spring. Both were resi-
dents of Orangeville. -Shelburne Free
Press.
New rules are being drawn for Ontario
jails, by which the jailors are forbidden
to allow newspaper men to interview the
prisoners. The jail officials will hereaf-
ter wear uniform, and be given two
weeks holidays a year. Aged and infirm
people are to be treated as if in a house
of refuge, and they will not be obliged
to wear prison uniform.

vantages to be gained iu the use of these

heavy machine which the farmers are
compelled to draw from barn to barn.
If the owner of the machine could con-
trive an arrangement whereby he could
with a traction engine not ouly draw the
separator along the road bat also draw
it up the steep banks into the barns,
there is little doubt that these machines
would meet with more success.

William Gilmore of the 4th Carrick,
got a thistle in his hand the otherday,
and tried to take it out with a rusty
knife. Blood poisoning set in and Mr.
Gilmore's arm swelled to an enormous

of Mrs. Thos. Kidd, of Seaforth. It had
been known that Mrs. Kidd had been

was sitting in a chair talking and laugh-
ing with her daughter. Suddenly she
ceased speaking, and on her slaughter

attacked by paralysis and never rallied,
death claiming her In about two hours
afterwards. She was 61 years of age.
She was a native of the township of Ad-
jala, Simeoe county. She was married
to ilii. Kidd abou 'thirty-two years ago,
