PEOPLE
This week Mr. F,C.J. Sills, in his capacity
as Provincial Chairman of the Firefighters
Bravery Medal committee, attended the
investiture in the Legislature when the
Lieutenant Governor, the Honorable lincoln
Alexander, bestowed the Medals of Bravery
on several members of the fire services and
the police forces of Ontario. In the absence of
Premier David Peterson, who was sick with
the flu, he was assisted by the Honorable Ken
Keyes, the Solicitor General of Ontario.
Every year it is a moving experience and
this year was no exception. Particularly when
one recipient was a small boy accepting the
posthumous award for his father who was
killed in line of duty. Another recipient was a
policeman who is now a quadraplegic and
totally blind as a result of going to help a
fellow officer.
The people of this province owe a great
debt of gratitude to the members of these'
services for their efforts in protecting our
lives and property.
