In the absence of Premier David Peterson, who was sick with the flu, he was assisted by the Honorable Ken Keyes, the Solicitor General of Ontario. Every year it is a moving experience and this year was no exception. Particularly when one recipient was a small boy accepting the posthumous award for his father who was killed in line of duty. Another recipient was a policeman who is now a quadraplegic and totally blind as a result of going to help a fellow officer. The people of this province owe a great debt of gratitude to the members of these' services for their efforts in protecting our lives and property.
