Pat Ryan wins again
Pat Ryan was the winner once again, in the
weekly bowling competition of Seaforth
Health Care Facility residents, at Nobel
Bowling Lanes on November 26.
Dave Netzke, Elizabeth Brown and Cassie
Nicholson tied on games day Tuesday, when
public school volunteers helped residents
with bowling and bean bag tossing.
Worship service was held Wednesday,
with Reverend Archie Robertson presiding
and Mrs. Lobb accompanying on the organ.
Mr. and Mrs. Lobb sang a duet. Mrs.
McGonigle and Mrs. Siemon gave the
reading.
Volunteers came in Thursday to help out
with a euchre game. High score: Irene
Omand and Pat Ryan; low score, Louisa
Zinger, Kilbarchan and Sid Pearson; lone
hands, Elma Baksey and Verna McClure.
W inners in the Friday bingo were Wilma
Brill, Doris Smith, Elmer Baksey and
Elizabeth Brown.
A few of the residents attended the Santa
Claus parade on November 30. Santa Claus
later visited the facility, bringing oranges for
the residents.
This past week, Elizabeth Brown and Dave
Netzke won the bowling and bean bag toss
games, assisted by • school volunteers on
Tuesday.
On Wednesday, Reverend Simmons held
worship service, Eva Lambert accompanied
on the piano for Christmas carols, followed by
a social hour.
Ladies were busy Thursday afternoon
making the Christmas pudding.
Bingo was played Friday afternoon, Mary
Ryan, Margurite Shill, Bill Connolly, Earl
Dow, Alvie Sykes, Harold Walsh and Jim
Nolan were winners.
Librarian honored
The chief librarian for the Huron County
library system has been named librarian of
the Year by his peers.
Bill Partridge of Goderich was given the
Ontario library Trustees' Association award
of merit at the Ontario library Annual
convention in Toronto on November 23.
The award of merit is presented annually to
a practising librarian, professional or non-
professional, who has made a significant
contribution to public library service in the
province.
He has shown consistent and enthusiastic
interest in serving various levels within the
library community," states the citation
presented to Mr, Partridge.
A graduate of the University of British
Columbia and the University of Toronto
faculty of library science, Mr. Partridge's
contributions over the past decade have
spanned the country. He has served as
secretary -treasurer of both the Atlantic
Provinces library Association and the
Canadian library Association. He has also
been a member of the Ontario library
Association executive.
Currently; he is co-chairman of a task force
on Ontario newspapers, chairman of county
and regional municipal librarians, the asso-
ciation of county and regional libraries,
president of the Maitland Golf and Country
Club in Goderich andactive in amateur
theatre.
Mr. Partridge presented Huron County
Warden Paul Steckle with a copy of the award
he received.

DEJONG: Pat and Linda DeJong wish to
announce the safe arrival of their daughter
Nicole Jessica on November 22, 1985 at
Clinton Public Hospital. A wee sister for
Jennifer, Pat Jr. and Michelle.
JOHNSTON: Terry and Jill, Eric, Sarah and
Kate are delighted to announce that Ian Craig
arrived safe and sound on December 2, 1985
at St. Joseph's Hospital, Landon,
McCLURE: Clayton and Joanne McClure are
pleased to announce the birth of their son,
Shane Nelson, on December 3, 1985. He is a
little brother for Cindy. His grandparents are
Mr. and Mrs. Nelson McClure, and Mr. and
Mrs. Keith Robinson and great grandmother
is Laura Fawcett.
PEOPLE,
The Seaforth Happy Citizens had their
Christmas Party December 5 at the Legion
Hall.
A bountiful turkey supper was provided by
the Legion ladies and very capably served by
the men. A short program of Christmas
Carols and a film were enjoyed and then a few
games of cards were played. Winners were:
ladies high, Lavada Norris; ladies low, Ruby
Dolmage; ladies lone, Ida Diehl; men's high,
Everett Felker; men's low, Lloyd •Pipe and
men's lone, Eva McCartney (as a man).
Lucky tickets were Beatrice Reiger, Kath-
leen Cuthill, Ivy Scott and Jessie Hillen.
The Oddfellows and Rebekahs euchre was
held November 27 with prize winners being:
ladies high, Mrs. Wilfred Tremeer; men's
high, Arthur Varley; ladies lone hands, Mrs.
Alvin Smale; men's lone hands, Alvin
Stevens; ladies low, Ida Diehl and men's low,
Orville Storey. The next euchre will be
January 22, 1986.
Congratulations and best wishes compli-
mented a family dinner party honoring Violet
Elgie of Seaforth and her daughter Frances
McKnight of Cambridge on the occasion of
their birthdays.
The dinner was held Sunday, December 1
at the Stone Crock in St. Jacobs.
CWL hold supper
and gift exchange
St. James Catholic Women's League
enjoyed a potluck supper and gift exchange
prior to their December meeting, Gifts will be
given to the nursing homes and shut-ins and
flowers supplied for the altars at Christmas,
Singing of Christmas carols was led by
Margaret Lane on the piano ended the
evening.
Reporter honored
A freelance news reporter from Goderich
was honored with a provincial award this past
week.
Glenn Creamer was presented with the
Ontario Federation of Agriculture media
award. He was given the award on Monday,
November 25 by OFA president Harry
Pellssero at the federation's annual banquet.
Nominated by the Huron Federation of
Agriculture, Mr. Creamer was one of 17
nominees for the award from across the
province.
Other winners of the award have been
David lmrie from CKCO Television and Bob
Trotter from Kitchener for his column One
Foot in the Furrow.
