It was moved by Luella Mitchell and

presented by the Maitland Valley Conserva-
tion Authority he paid.
In the spring the new 'flower beds at the
dam will be planted along with the other town
beds. Thanks was expressed to the town
council for a cheque for $300.

demonstration on how to make Christmas
decorations '

The prize for the best corsage was won by
Shirley Wheeler and the door prize went to

Sixteen members and two visitors attended
,i recent meeting of the Melville Presbyterian
‘;iiild. Mary Huether was leader.
Two duets were sungby Laura Douma and'
Angie Yoon and Angie played two piano
sobs. Mrs. Jamieson gave the topic "The
World is Sick.''
I luring the business period:
Plans were finalized for the service on
Sunday night, Ann Jamieson was guest
speaker.
-Group two was put in charge of the
Krauter dinner on Friday.
Jeanne Ireland and Thelma Cardiff offered -
to act as a nomination committee to find a vice
president and a secretary.
The December meeting was scheduled to
take place at the home of Judy Shortreed with
a two dollar gift exchange.
A lunch of sandwiches and relishes was
served by Mary Huether, Wilma Heming-
way, Elizabeth Jamieson and Mary David-
. son.
FRIENDSHIP CLUB
Constable John Marshall was guest
speaker at a meeting of the Brussels Senior
Friendship Club. He showed a film on police
work and answered questions. There' -Were
twenty-three members present at the meet -
in The Christmas dinner is set for December
lo.
Winners in euchre and Uno were Eva
Gordon, (high lady), Marjorie Ritchie, (low
lady).' Mary Yuill, (high man), Annie Engel
(low man) and Geanne Carpentier (Uno).
APPRECIATION NIGHT
An end of almost 50 years of municipal life
for two Morris Township men will come the
end of November. An appreciation night for
Bill Elston and Torn Miller was held at the
Brussels, Morris and Grey Community
Centre on Friday evening.
Approximately 350 friends, neighbors,
relatives and friends from other municipali
ties attended. The Temptations supplied the
music for dancing.
Later in the evening Mr. and Mrs. Elston
and Mr. and Mrs. Miller were called to- the
platform. lloyd Michie was Master of
Ceremonies. He gave a brief description of
the years these two men were on council and
what dates they held their respective
positions,
Doug Fraser, the incoming reeve, spoke on
behalf of the council, Paul Steckle brought
best wishes from County Council and
neighboring Perth County on their retire-
ment.
Ross Procter spoke on behalf of the
ratepayers and former council. Nancy
Michie, clerk -treasurer of the township,
reminisced with Bill and Torn. Florence
dinner
McArter and Helen Martin presented Mrs.
Easton and Mrs. Miller each with a floral
arrangement on behalf of the township,
Clem McLellan, incoming deputy -reeve,
spoke briefly and presented Tom with, a
plaque on behalf of the township. Bob Grasby
also spoke. and presented Bill with his gift in
remembrance of his work in municipal life.
Tom and Bill each reminisced about the
years they were in council.
UNITE() CHURCH
The Inglis Brothers sang two gospel songs
at Brussels United Church Sunday. Rev.
Carpentier had as his sermon "The Human
Vulnerability.'
The afternoon unit will meet on Tuesday,
December 3 at 2 p.m. in the church parlor.
The roll call is to be a Christmas. verse.
The Christmas dinner of the United Church
Women (UCW ) will be held at 6:30 p.m. on
December 4 in the church auditorium.
Everyone is welcome.
The members of the UCW will be packing
Christmas -boxes for our elderly shut-ins of
the congregation on December 5 at 1 p.m. in
the church parlor. Donations of cookies,
fruits, etc. will be greatly appreciated.
On Saturday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. a
"Children's Bazaar" will be held. All items
are $1 or less and include whales, candles,
spiders, crazy pencils, boats and more.
Coffee and sweets for waiting adults will be
available,
PRESBYTERIAN Clll'R('ll
An average crowd was on hand to greet the
leaders Martin Baan of Walton and Fred
Howson of the Gideons for worship at
Melville Presbyterian Church Sunday. The
choir had an anthem, presentation. The
sermon was "A Vision of Hope."
Interdenominational Bible Study continues
on Wednesday at 9 to 11 a.m. in St. John's
Anglican Church.
Anyone with information for the newsletter
should phone the minister on Friday. Next
Sunday is White Gift Sunday for children of
all ages.
Knox choir enjoys exchange

The Junior Choir of Knox United Church,
Itelgrave, enjoyed an exchange visit on the
teekend with the Junior Choir of Northlea
Coiled Church, Toronto. it is under the
direction of Professor W.A. Andrews. The
children had an afternoon of sightseeing on
Saturday and both choirs sang together at the
morning service on Sunday.
Ile' choir was accompanied by Mr. and
\lis Howard Morton and Heather, Mrs.
I1,iherl Gordon, Mrs. John McIntosh, Mrs.
\lirray Vincent and Mrs. George Proctor.

Wednesday with her mother Elizabeth
Procter.
Elizabeth Procter was a dinner guest on
Saturday evening at the home of Mr. an
Mrs. Larry Mayberry, Marilyn, Kimber)
and Darryl of Londesboro.
Melanie Scott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Murray Scott has recently moved to Toronto
where she has accepted a position on the
nursing staff of St. Joseph's Health Care
Centre.
Clayton Bosman has returned home to
Prince George, British Columbia after
visiting with his parents Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon Bosman.
Sunday visitors with Mr. and. Mrs. Robert
Grasby were Mr, and Mrs. Cecil Armstrong
of Thomdale, Mr. and Mrs. George John-
ston. Tara and Erin of Dderton.
Mr and Mrs. Frank Collins, Beulah Jones
and Stella Whitehouse of Hanover visited last
Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Leonard James. On
Sunday Ella Johnston and Rella McTeer of
Paisley visited at the James home.
Mr. George Cull is a patient in University
Hospital, London.
Mrs, Stanley Black and her brother,
Laverne White have recently returned home
by plane after visiting with her son and
daughtegr-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Black
and fafhily of Brandon, Manitoba. They also
visited with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Newton of
Hamiota, Manitoba.

4-H WINNER — Donna Johnston of Brussels received the C S. McNaughton Trophy for the
highest number of points on the basis of awards for 4-H work. She achieved the highest score
in the Sheep Club, Brussels 4-H Horse and Pony Club, Brussels 4-H Dairy Calf Club and the
