Legion teams qualify for district tourney

Last Saturday the Branch hosted the Zone
Cribbage Tournament with a good represen-
tation from all the Branches in the Zone, This
year.a team consisting of four ladies from the
Blyth Legion came in first, losing only one
game. From Seaforth's entry of three teams'
the Branch was abie to have two qualify for
the District competition later in the winter.
Unfortunately the "Poppy Drive" sche-
duled for Sunday was rained out for the
second year running. Some did go out but the
most of the community has to be canvassed
yet. The Canvassers will be out in the
evenings of this week to. try and finish the
canvass. A financial report of the Poppy Trust
l"und from last year is reported as follows by •
the Branch Treasurer Don Eaton.
Amount collected in 1984 campaign --
$2,468.33.
('ost of Poppies and Campaign expenses
etc: -- $6'19.65. .
Cost of Wreaths - 1984 Campaign --
$874.00.
Disbursements October 1st 1984 - Sept.
30th, 1985 --$1,131.13.

The Veterans' Banquet is this Saturday at 7
p.m. Anyone wishing tickets should phone
the Branch or Comrade Jim Watson no later
than Wednesday evening (to -night). The
ladies Auxiliary have to know how many are
attending.
On Sunday the Church Parade will be held
at the United Church. The parade will form at.
10:30 hrs. and march to the Church. We hope
all members will do their utmost to attend this
Remembrance service.

terial Regional Meeting held in Egmondville
United Church on Monday evening.
Rev. McDonald along with Mr. and Mrs.
('lair Hoffman and Karen attended the 40th
Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Melvin held in the Salem Community Hall at
Walkerton on Saturday evening.
PEOPLE
Mrs. Laird Mickle entertained her grand-
daughter and her husband Mr. and Mrs.
Randy Pollock of London who were recently
married and also her parents Mr, and Mrs.
W m. M icicle of Exeter, her sister and
husband Mr. and Mrs. Dave O'Brien of
llondau, and her brother John Mickle of
London on Sunday. They all enjoyed a
delicious turkey smorgasbord dinner and a
good visit.

On Monday, November 11 all Legion
members should be at the Legion at 10 a.m. to
parade to the Cenotaph for the Remembrance
day service. In case of bad weather .the
service will be held in the Legion Hall. In the
evening a Potluck supper.will be held at the
hall at approximately 6 p.m.
Larry Broome has volunteered to run the
Wednesday night euchres this year. The first
Stag euchre will be held Wednesday,
November 13 at 8 p.m. The following
Wednesday a mixed euchre is planned for
members and guests. Keep those dates in
mind.
The first of three Bingos will be held
November 26 with the second December 10
and the last on December 17. There will be
more on this at a later date. Please plan to
attend the Remembrance Service both on
Sunday and Monday.
At the going down of the sun and in the
morning we will Remember them.
"THE RURAL ROADS" represented the Seaforth Harmony Kings Chapter In quartet
competition at the fall SPEBSQSA District Competition held recently at Hamilton Place in
Hamilton. The group placed very well in stiff competition. Twenty quartets took part. The
