BETTY McCALL 887-6677 How the seeing would react if they were blind was the topic of the children's story at Duff's United Church Sunday. Bonnie Lamble told the story. Liz, Barb and Sarah Lamble sang the Ghana Folk Song, "Jesu, Jesu" accompan- ied at the piano by Marion Godkin who was also the organist for the hymns. Greeters were Audrey Backwell and Patricia. Ushers were Bill Coutts, Jack McEwing and Lavern Godkin. In the announcements responsible stew- ardship of our land and resources including recycling of newsprint (not shiny magazines or catalogues), glass jars and bottles (rinsed WALTON out), and tin cans, (ends removed and flattened) was stressed. Such materials can be saved and brought to the Mennonite Church in Brussels four times a year. PERSONALS Norma Steele recently visited in Cam- bridge with a friend, Verda Kinzie, also with Rev. and Mrs. B. Shantz. The ladies of the Walton Women's Institute are planning another noon lunch- eon for this Wednesday. Visiting with Ruth Thamer over the noon lunch Thursday were John and Joan Dunn and Lloyd Walker prior to their leaving soon for their homes in Florida for the winter Decorator shows slides Belgrave Correspondent MRS. LEWIS STONEHOUSE 887-9487 A slide presentation of a variety of room settings was shown by Patti Robertson, of Classic Interiors, at a meeting of the Canadian Industries of the Belgrave Wo- men's Institute (WI). Evelyn James opened the meeting and convenor Ruth Gordon introduced the guest speaker. The minutes of the previous meeting, the financial statement and correspondence were read by Gladys Van Camp and it was agreed to cater to the Co-op banquet on November 15. The delegate to the Area Convention in London on October 30 and 31 will be Dorothy Coultes. Umch was served by Audrey Fenton and Gladys Van Camp. The Belgrave Kinsmen held their elimina- tion draw in the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre. Winners were: Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Pletch, $400; Terry Merkley, $25; Marion Hewinif, $25; Kim and Todd Edgar, $50; Brian Shiell, $50; Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Corrigan, $50; Irlma Edgar, $75; Rob Anderson of Londesboro, $75; Doris Mitch - ler, $100; Robert Arbuckle, $100; Mr. and Mrs. Neil Olson, $100; Keith Black, $200 and Norman Cook was the big winner, of . $1000. The Belgrave Kinsmen wish to thank everyone for buying tickets. Proceeds will go to the new pavilion in the Ball Park. EUCHRE PLAYED Ten tables were in play at the weekly euchre which was held in the WI Hall last Wednesday. Winners were Mrs. Les Vin- cent, high score; Mrs. Ab Cook, low score; Pearl Shiell, novelty lady; Stanley Black, high score; Mts. Verena Bone, playing as a man, low score; and W ilford Caslick, novelty man. There will be euchre again tonight at 8:00 p.m. PEOPLE Mr. and Mrs. Glyn Wide, Kimberly, Jennifer and Trevor of Hamilton spent the weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Garner Nicholson. Mr. and Mrs. Americo Arruda, Maria and Michelle of Toronto spent the weekend with Mrs. Dorothy Logan. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Vincent returned home on Saturday after visiting Mr. and BELGRAVE Mrs. Donald Vincent, Patrick, Angela and Aaron of Riverview, New Brunswick. The community extends sympathy to Jean McEwen in the loss of her brother Ross McEwen. . Mr. and Mrs. John Galbraith, Michael and Kelly of Whitby visited on the weekend with her mother Olive Campbell and other relatives. Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Charles Robinson and her family in the loss of a dear husband and father Mr. Charles Robinson also to Mr. Robinson's sisters and brothers. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Higgins of Stratford spent a couple days last week with his mother, Mrs. Robert Higgins. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Cortes of Tavistock held a surprise birthday party for her mother Mrs. Harvey Edgar at the latter's home on concession 2 of Morris Township on Friday evening October 25. Those present were Harvey, Audrey and Don Edgar, Joanne and Richard Cortes, Tavistock; Alice Elliott and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Stewart of Bluevale, Mr. and Mrs, Glen Sellers, RR 2, Bluevale, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Elston and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Elston of RR 4, Wingham, Irima Edgar and Brenda Edgar of Wingham, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Johnston of Blyth and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse, Belgrave. Mr. and Mrs. Gamer Nicholson, Harold Keating, Rob Nicholson and Pat Snurr of Hanover visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Nicholson and Sherri of Barrie. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Rick, Jason and Paul have recently purchased the home of the late Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rath and are now residents of Belgrave. We welcome them to the village. Mr. and Mrs. Wellington Marks of Blyth celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Saturday at the Blue Fountain Restaurant in Clinton. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Murray Marks and Brian of RR 1, Belgrave, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bell, Tammi and Robbie of Vanastra and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Marks and Mellissa, RR 1, Belgrave.
