HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Huron Expositor, 1985-10-23, Page 11District contracts moose and deer collecting Al Sherwood of Dungannon, west or W Ingham, has been awarded the contract to collect moose and deer hides for the Ministry of Natural Resources this year. This is the first time that the Wingham District has contracted this program. Conservation Officer Glen Sturgeon said "the contracting of this service not only provides the private entrepreneur with an opportunity to make some money, it also provides more flexible hours and greater availability for hunters wishing to turn in their moose and deer hides. Mr. Sherwood's variety store, located on the main street of Dungannon, is open during normal working hours, including Saturdays. Contracting the service may also result in a potential cost saving to the Ministry." Hunters with moose and deer hides and jaws should take them to Al Sherwood's and NOT the W ingham District Office as in the past. Hats and crests will continue to be distributed to hunters for turning in the hides and jaws. The hides should be fresh, not spoiled. Mr. Sherwood may refuse to accept rotting or maggot infested hides and jaws. Hunters wishing to take their hides or jaws to other Ministry district offices should contact those offices directly in order to find out whether or not they are still' accepting them.
