Banker's hours are wonderful
Banker's hours are such a wonderful
invention that I've decided to incorporate
them into my fall schedule. What an
enjoyable change from the dawn to dusk
routine of the peak summer season. Even
dawn to dusk wouldn't be so bad at this time
of year though. I'm probably one of the few
people around who actually enjoy the shorter
days. (Only for a while though,)
It's just great getting a couple of extra
hours sleep in the morning, then leisurely
getting the mail and a paper and finding time
at work to read. All the golf articles I've been
tucking away are now getting read and many
of the things that are put off all summer are
now getting done. Paper work has a way of
piling up and there's always the after
summer housecleaning while the outside
work is tackled with a vengeance just in case
the weather takes a turn for the worse.
It's the time of year when I'm in the mood
to wind down and put golf on the back burner.
However it is also the time of year when all
the salesmen are around to convince you what
they have for 1986 is the answer to every

golfer's dream. I am forced to plan for next
year in spite of the fact that the long golf
season is now behind us.
However it is wonderful to know that there
are clubs available out there practically
guaranteed to allow even the most unco-ordi-
nated and unorthodox golfer to shoot like
Nicklaus or Watson. There's the latest in
putters, wedges, and carts, not to mention
golf balls I !wonder how many dimples will be
popular in the spring of '86? The shoes,
sweaters, shirts and other apparel], are
designed to make anyone look the part no
matter what they shoot. It never ceases to
amaze me that a company that carnes
sweaters in 40 colors can always manage to
introduce "6 exciting new colors for '86." A
