CECILIA RYAN 345-2028 The October meeting of the St. Columban Catholic Women's League was held on Monday evening in the parish hall. Angelina Swart, president, presided over the meeting. Invitations were received from St: Bridgets C. W . L . Kennicott, to attend their bazaar on October 9; from St. Patricks' C. W . L , Dublin, to their bazarr on October 23; and from St. James C'.W.L, Seaforth, to their bazaar on November 30. Fifty dollars will be sent to Pro life to help pay for the commercials on CKNX W Ingham, The ladies who took part in the entertain- ment at the June social were each presented with a C.W.L spoon. Monsignor C. Adams, of Mitchell, was a special guest at St. Columban RC. Church for the celebration of Holy Mass on Thanksgiving weekend during the absence of Father Andrew Sipek. A special Mass of Thanksgiving was offered on October 11 at St. Columban RC. Church by the school children and said by Father Sipek The sanctuary was decorated for Thanks- giving with flowers, fruits, and vegetables by the St. Columban school children. They also read the readings and petitions and brought the gifts up at the offertory of the mass. Ms. Abbey says its the creative thought being developed, although spelling and grammar won't be ignored completely, just dealt with in different areas. During the last school year. the primary consultant conducted workshops to introduce the new theory and some of the teaching practices involved, to the primary teachers. Mrs. John Templeman attended an Oxford North District executive meeting in Hickson on Friday. Perth County eyes landfill site The location of a landfill site for four municipalities in eastern Perth County and the provincial financing program are two items the Perth County federation of agriculture will be watching in the coming year. So says the renamed county federation president Dave Smith of RR 1, Sebringville 'Mr. Smith was again named to the position at the federation's annual meeting on October 8 in Kirkton. - Four municipalities. Milverton and the townships of Mornington and North and South Easthope are together looking for a landfill site. They are currently using Waterloo's, but that agreement has about three years to go Mr. Smith said the federation is keeping an eye on the situation As for OF'hTH, the Ontario Family Farm Interest Rate Reduction, a one-year S50 million provincial government emergency aid program, the federation wants to encourage people to make use of the funding "It will go fast," said Mr Smith admitting agriculture needs some long term solutions Other executive members named at the annual meeting are first vice•president Bill Denham of RR 1, St Marys and Paul Verkley of Atwood.
