Cheryl McClure hit a double and Ann Bosman hit a triple for the McNichol team. Ken Smith vs Ken Murray: Ken Smith beat Ken Murray 31-4. Hitting for Ken Smith were: doubles for Judy Nigh, Linda Brown, Karen Wettlaufer, Glenda Geddes, Deb Martin, Carol Bennewies, Dianne Bennett (2 doubles), and Pattyann Gridzak (2 doubles). Karen Wettlaufer and Glenda Geddes each hit a triple also. McNichol vs Scott Farms: McNichol won this game by e score of 14-5. Hitting for McNichols were Peggy Dale, a double, Cheryl McClure, a double, and Colleen Fischer a double and a triple. Sandra Hunt hit 2 doubles for Scott Farms, Ken Smith vs Ken Murray: Ken Smith beat Ken Murray 23-7. Dianne Bennett hit a triple for Ken Smith while Leanne McKay hit a triple for Ken Murray. Browns vs Queens: Browns won this game 3914. SPONSCRED er CBIA CLINTON BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT AREA TO RIDE AT WESTERN—Jim Dickins of Hensall had a full weekend of racing as he rode to a second finish at trophy day in the Hully Gully Houseleague. Jim won his first race then got caught up in the mud In his second and had to come from behind to finish second. After Houseleague Jim travelled to Moto Park near Durham for Sunday's race. The track was In near perfect condition as 3080's took to the track. Jim finished 7th in. both races but when the points for the day were added up, Jim came home with 8th place In the 80A class. Next Saturday, September 14th, Jim will be racing at the Western Fair at the Grandstand show, .then will be returning home to Hully Gully's tracty to race on Sunday, September 15th. (Photo submitted) Local bowlers are active in out-of-town tournaments Local bowlers were active in out of town tournaments last week. Three ladies' rinks played in Wingham in the Wilma Kerr Memorial • trophy tournament. Thirteen greens were in play and although rain threatened skies had cleared by noon and play was underway. The team of Jean Lunn and Mary Finlayson placed third with three wins and 40 over plus three. Olive Papple and Carol Carter were also two game winners. Bowling, at Exeter, in the men's pairs tournament John Patterson and Neil Bell were high two game winners with two wins and 49. In Clinton. mixed trebles on Sunday afternoon Art and Mary Finlayson and Jean Lunn won the tournament with three wins and 46 over plus three. Fred and Betty Tilley and Eric Matzold were also two game winners along with George Hildebrand bowling with Bill and Pearl Neely of Stratford. This Sunday at 1:30 p.m. will be the annual fowl tournament at the Seaforth greens. To date there is a full entry. On Saturday, September 28 at 10:30 a.m. will be the rescheduled Sills trophy tourna- ment. This will be the last tournament at the Seaforth Club. All local teams who wish to bowl should enter as soon as possible. Just a reminder to the seniors who bowled in the summer participation bowling, the pot luck supper is being held at the arena on Thursday evening at 6 p.m. The winning team of this event was the rink of Oliver Pryce (lead), Jean Lunn (vice.and Neil Bell (skip). They will be competing in the Games Events at St. Marys, September 23 and 24. The lawn bowling season is fast coming to a close but for now good bowling to all. Len Foran successfully defends his title Len Foran from the Sunningdale Golf Club in London successfully defended his title as Seaforth Golf and Country Club's Men's Invitational Champion, by winning Satur- day's tournament with a 7 under par 65. Len had rounds of 32,33 to finish two strokes ahead of Londoner Tom Faulds who finished with a 69. Seaforth golfer Frank Verberne had a net score of 65 to win the low net championship. Len Form's name will be on the Commercial Hotel trophy and Frank Verberne's name will be on the Shorty Munro trophy. The tournament had a field of 128 golfers from all over Ontario, as well as visitors from Delaware, Michigan, and 9 golfers from Bermuda. In spite of a short delay due to the fog the field finished 18 holes in perfect time, as the golfers suffered through the hot and muggy weather. Other winners in the tournament were: First Flight, 1st low gross, Tom Faulds, first low net, Doug Williamson, Oakville; second low gross, Bob Simpson, Greenhills; second low net, Steve Donaldson, London) third low gross, Don Whit London Hunt. third low net, Rod Doig, Seaforth; fourth low gross, Dave Brady, Pontiac Michigan; fourth low net, Chip Restall, Stratford. Longest drive was by Kevin Bennett from Seaforth and closest to the pin winners were Brian Carroll and Chip Restall. The low Bermudian was Ian Crockwell. In other events last week at the golf course Rob Core defeated Phil Hoggarth in the match play and now awaits the winner of the match between Ken Doig Sr. and Greg Core. Bill Tremeer and Darren Crocker are in the finals in the boys match play for the Sills trophy. At men's night last week the winners were: Joe Dick, Mark McUwain, Keith Lovell, and Bob Henderson. The final men's night bash is set for Sunday, September 21 with golf at 2 p.m. There was no ladies night due to the holiday but the final ladies day is Sunday. September 15 with golf beginning at 2 p.m. Ladies planning to come for golf and dinner must let the pro shop know by Wednesday evening at 9 p.m. This Saturday afternoon the Clinton Hospital is having a small tournament so keep this in mind when planning your golf A special thanks to all who helped with the tournament on the weekend It is greatly appreciated.
