THE. Tuckersmith Day Nursery will no
longer have the guiding hand of Karen
McEwing-McConnell. She has been the
director since the nursery's opening 10 years
ago. Ms. McEwing-McConnell has taken a
position with the Durham Board of Educa-
tion, completing her last day in Tuckersmith

Lawn• bowlers
hold tourney
Seaforth Lawn Bowling Club held a
successful mixed pairs tournament on
September 1 starting at 1:30 p.m. All
eighteen greens were in play and winning
first place and watches were Don and Doris
Sibley of Woodstock with 3 wins and 44,
Second Prize and also receiving watches were
Bill and Pearl Neely of Stratford with three
wins and 41. Also with 3 wins and 41 were
Anna and Cecil Nadalin of Woodstock but
with more shots against them. Fourth place
went to Ron and Shirley Jones of London with
3 wins and 38 over plus 6. Ron was a member
of the men's fours team which recently won
the Canadian Championship in Montreal.
Fifth was Neil and Edna Bell from the home
club with three wins and 38. Sixth went to Len
Boreham and Betty Johnson of St. Marys
with 2 wins and 41. Seventh place also with
two wins and 41 were Art and Mary
Finlayson. Consolation prize went to Gene
Dolling and partner of Preston winning their
last game with a score of 21 points.
Thursday evening saw over thirty bowlers
out bowling for the Soole trophy. Although
the weather was threatening at 6 p.m.. by
7:30 p.m. the rain was over. Winning first
place were Jack Patterson and Peter Malcolm
with three wins and 29. Second went to Mary
Finlayson and Olive Papple with three wins
and 20. Third place went to Jean Lunn and
Betty Tilley with two wins and 25 over plus 4
Fourth was Jack Muir and Edna Bell with two
wins and 25. Fifth was Fred Tilley. and
Gordon Scott with 2 wins and 24, Sixth prize
went to Dave Sims and Eileen Adamson also
with two wins, and 24. Consolation prize went
to Sandy Pepper and Thelma Coombs with
one win and 24,
Each year the Soole trophy tournament is
held. It was donated in memory of Mrs. Jas
F. Scott's parents and it is howled for by
members of the Seaforth Lawn Bowling Club
A number of men took part in men's
trebles at Hanover on Saturday The rink of
F1'ed Tilley, Neil Bell and Art Finlayson were
successful in winning two games Also Tom
Phillips who, was bowling with Lee Ryan of
Goderich and Dave Coldough of London won
two games. John Patterson of Seaforth
teamed up with Bill Nelly of Stratford and
Cliff Ashton of Clinton and were successful In
winning three games. Thirty greens were in
play at this popular tournament
A number of men will also he playing in
uicknow on Monday in their M & M men's
pairs tournament.
Local bowlers holidaying last week were
Mel and Esther Brady who spent a week at
Friendly Acres Lodge near Huntsville and
Eric Matzold who spent the last week and a
half in England.
Seaforth's next tournament will be Sun.
day, September 15 and already this tourna-
ment is filled. The Sills trophy tournament
which was rained out earlier this summer has
been re -scheduled for Saturday, September
28 at 10:30 a.m. Local teams wishing to bowl
should sign the sheet in the club house
Terry Fox Run
set for Sept. 15
The 5th annual Tem Fox Run is set for
Sunday, September 15, at the Van F.gmond
House from 8 a.m. • 12 noon Sponsor sheets
are available at Bob & Betty's, the Town Hall
and the Recreation Office The Recreation
Committee has challenged Council to a six
mile walk and are waiting a response Rumor
has it that Lyon's challenged Superior to the
same walk but Superior wasn't up to it The
Toronto Dominion Bank has mentioned that
no other bank could compete with them
Seaforth Insurance has been quoted as saying
that all the other insurance agencies had
better visit them and take out•a policy before
anyof them run. Will the Firemen respond to
comments made by the Public Works
Department? Is all of this true'

A Seaforth Senior Games Pot Luck Supper
is planned for Thursday, September 12.
beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Arena
Invitations were sent out to all who signed in
for events but we may have missed some of
you. Everyone is welcome. A representative
for the Tri -County District Senior Games in
St. Marys will be attending to tell you all
about the festivities that are planned Don't
