ALLAN MCCALL 887-6677 The second annual Walton Ladies $10 - Pitch Tournament was held at the Walton Park on Friday evening and all day Saturday. Teams participating were from Holpnesville, Mitchell, Monkton, Walton, Dublin, Brod- hagen, Trowbridge and Brussels. The "A" Championship of $120 was won by Dublin, The "A" runners up, prize of $75 was won by Monkton, the "B ' Champion- ship of $100.00 was won by Brodhagen and Walton got the runners up "B" Champion- ship prize of $60.00. The sports recreation served a beef barbecue and the evening finished up with a display of fireworks. 25 YEARS—Harry Gillis and his wife Mildred were honored ata dinner held at the Turnberry Tavern in recognition of 25 years of dedicated service to Grey Township. Mr. Gillis started working for Grey Township on June 8, 1960. Attending the dinner were all members •of Grey Township Council and spouses,staff and spouses. Reeve Leona Armstrong presented Mr. Gillis with a plaque donated. by Champion Road Mach- inery Sales Ltd. of Goderich. WALTON ABOUT PEOPLE Judi and' Dave Weisbrod have had visitors from the West coast. Dave's mother Irene Sutton has been visiting for two weeks and Judi's parents Myron and Marjory Bruce visited and will return on their way. back home to Nova Scotia in September. Mrs. Norma Steele returned to Cambridge with Verda Kinzie and Marion Winwood. Norma visited with former teacher associ- ates and attended a dinner in Bingeman Park, Kitchener. CHURCH NEW S Marion Godkin was organist for the hymns at the morning service, Sunday at Duff's United Church. Graeme Craig sang a solo and accompanied himself on the guitar, Ushers were Laverne Godkin and Doug Fraser. This will be the last service until August 25 while Bonnie Lamble is on vacation. Plans are being made for the Anniversary Service on September 15. The one -day Conference for Alma College is August 19. LEW IS STONEHOUSE 887-9487 An open house was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Davis of Stratford on Sunday, July 21 in honor of his father Ken Davis' 85th birthday. Mr. Davis' sister Mrs. Harold Down, also of Stratford, who celebrates her 80th birthday on August 6, was also honored. Many relatives and friends of the cele- brants were present to extend their best wishes. Family members attending were from Stratford, Waterloo, Teeswater, Brampton and Belgrave. Other guests attended from Tillsonburg, London, Ancaster, Rothsay, and Mitchell. Mr. Davis spent most of his life in Stratford, In 1981 he took up residence in Belgrave and lived there until February of this year when he moved to the Woodley Rest Home. at' RR 1 Wroxeter. Mary Hawkins and Louise Kotovich of Windsor visited from Monday to Saturday BELGRAVE with Mrs. Sam Fear. They also called on other relatives in the area and attended two plays at the Blyth theatre. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Johnston attended the Johnston Reunion which was held in the Bluevale Park Sunday July 28. Cousins were present from Bolton, Toronto, Ottawa, Saginaw, Michigan, Fergus, Goderich and surrounding area. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Cook accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hanna who spent a few days last week at the Harriston Park, Owen Sound. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Henning of Waterloo were guests of Mrs. Leslie Bolt on Saturday. The two families were former neighbors in Turnberry Township. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Vincent and, Dorothy Logan attended the funeral of their cousin Mabel Killough on Saturday. Miss Killough, whose home is in Dungannon, has spent the past years in Huronview, Clinton. Visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse on Tuesday were frhna Edgar, Brenda Edgar and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Edgar. Mrs. Jim Lamont, who has been a patient in Victoria Hospital, London, was able to return to her home on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Vincent and Cole, Dorothy Logan and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Vincent attended the 94th Birthday party celebration of their uncle Percy Vincent at Huronview, Clinton on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Rash of Mossley called on Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth MacDonald of Teeswater were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse on Saturday. Mrs. Barry Logan, Michael, Shawn and Becky of Burlington visited at the home of Dorothy Logan on Sunday.
