"Bell, Rogers and CTV are moving to freelancers and away from traditional production means," he said. "By starting my own company, I hope to eventually create my own media and make it available through platforms like YouTube and Netflix. " He said he hopes to grow the company to the point that it's not a one-person operation and bring on more staff. Vinnicombe has been interested in photography since he was young, but didn't see it, or any of the other media services he now offers professionally, as anything more than a hobby. That changed, however, when he started taking communication technology courses in high school. "Until then, I thought the only future for people in video and photography was in Hollywood," he said. "Through those comm -tech classes, however, I saw there are more options." That led to the creation of his Summer Company business, and his collaboration with Faux Pop. "I worked with Faux Pop on the Huron County -centric Deep Roots music documentary, and did placements with them throughout my education," he said. "They have been a huge part of my education and I'm still working with them and through their referrals" As for the unique name, Vinnicombe said he chose Lake Affect Media over the more traditional lake effect, after deciding that Huron County has really formed a lot of his personality and his professional aspirations, affecting his chance to start his own business. "I like when people ask me about that because this area really affected me," he said. "As to why I changed the name from my established Vinnicombe Production Studio, I found that the former name was a bit of a mouthful, and this more creative name is better to market:' For more information on the company, e-mail nick@ lakeaffectmedia.com or check out Lake Affect Media on social media platforms.
