freelancers more and more and
getting rid of their own staff as a way
of eliminating overhead, so having
his own space and his own office has
really helped him create a company
profile in the rural area.
"Bell, Rogers and CTV are
moving to freelancers and away
from traditional production means,"
he said. "By starting my own
company, I hope to eventually create
my own media and make it available
through platforms like YouTube and
Netflix. "
He said he hopes to grow the
company to the point that it's not a
one-person operation and bring on
more staff.
Currently, he works with a
collection of other media
professionals in Huron County
which has sprung up around media
production company Faux Pop
Media in Goderich.
"Between Faux Pop and
professionals like photographer and
drone photographer Rob Boyce, we
have a wide collection of skills and
equipment allowing us to work
together," he said.
Vinnicombe has been interested in
photography since he was young,
but didn't see it, or any of the other
media services he now offers
professionally, as anything more
than a hobby. That changed,
however, when he started taking
communication technology courses
in high school.
"Until then, I thought the only
future for people in video and
photography was in Hollywood," he
said. "Through those comm -tech
classes, however, I saw there are
more options."
That led to the creation of his
Summer Company business, and his
collaboration with Faux Pop.
"I worked with Faux Pop on the
Huron County -centric Deep Roots
music documentary, and did
placements with them throughout
my education," he said. "They have
been a huge part of my education
and I'm still working with them and
through their referrals"
As for the unique name,
Vinnicombe said he chose Lake
Affect Media over the more
traditional lake effect, after deciding
that Huron County has really formed
a lot of his personality and his
professional aspirations, affecting
his chance to start his own business.
"I like when people ask me about
that because this area really affected
me," he said. "As to why I changed
the name from my established
Vinnicombe Production Studio, I
found that the former name was a bit
of a mouthful, and this more creative
name is better to market:'

Catherines, married Ernest John
Phillips, the son of Mr. and Mrs.
E.H. Hollister of Montreal.
They were wed in Newcastle at
Newcastle United Church by Rev.
George Ward.
Gwen (Smith) McInnes, the sister
of the bride, was the maid of honour,
while James Gordon was Ernie's
best man. Ushers were Ray Meunier
and Peter Smith.
Emily and Ernie lived in Montreal
for 10 years after their wedding
before moving to their current
Moncrieff Road home just north of
Blyth.
Ernie, who worked for years as an
engraver, did all of his work by
hand, while Emily worked for
decades as a registered nurse. They
retired in 2003.
The couple have two children,
Karen and Les, and now have four

of the league's annual individual
awards like the Hart Memorial
Trophy, the Lady Byng Memorial
Trophy, the Calder Memorial Trophy
and the Conn Smythe Trophy. He

25 years. Upon retirement, Emily
performed civil marriages
throughout North Huron and has
even married couples whom she
helped to deliver.
Ernie and Emily celebrated their
