Hard work
The Wawanosh 4-H Club's Wawanosh Today project finished up recently by hosting its
achievement day at the Wingham Community Garden. Members were treated to a tour of the
garden by Phil Beard and then got their hands dirty working in the garden themselves. (Photo

The Wawanosh Today 4-H Club
was held its Achievement Day on
Tuesday, June 5 at the Wingham
Community Garden. Once all
members had arrived, President
Sarah led the club in the 4-H pledge
and then leader Mary Ellen
introduced the club to Phil Beard,
the head gardener.
The club was then split into
different groups. One group was
responsible for weeding, another
responsible for planting beans and
carrots, another planting tomatoes
and one was in charge of watering.
After about an hour of work, the
club took a break and Phil gave a
tour of the various parts of the
garden and a brief history of the
garden and the club's involvement.
The club then set out to finish
some bookwork. Leaders went over
some of the content from the hair -
and -nails meeting and members
filled in worksheets pertaining to
hair and nails. Leaders then
mentioned a possible next club of
basic sewing and reminded members
that books are due next week. With
that, the club closed with the 4-H
motto and enjoyed a snack provided
by the leaders.
