Hang in there
Despite reports of frost on car windows and furnaces still
running, many reports point to spring actually having
sprung with warmer temperatures right around the corner.
Last week, students at Hullett Central Public School took
advantage of the sunny, dry weather and got outside to get active.
After a long, long winter, students were finally able to play soccer
and make use of their playground, just like, from left: Macy Smith,

`Pigeon King' remount to open season
The gripping, smash -hit,
countrified romp The Pigeon King,
based on the outrageous true tale of
Arlan Galbraith, the self-proclaimed
Pigeon King convicted of fraud in a
Waterloo court and sentenced to
seven years for his Pigeon Ponzi
scheme, will be back on the Blyth
Festival stage this summer. Part
country musical, part comedy, part
courtroom drama, this show has it
all, leading critic Christopher Hoile
to give it four stars and call it "a
fascinating, highly entertaining play.

Premiering last summer, The
Pigeon King was hard to get a ticket
for, and this year the show is back
better than ever. A collaboration full
of original music, the play was
created by a company of Blyth
Festival actors based on extensive
research and dozens of interviews
with people directly caught up in
Galbraith's pigeon scheme. The
show plays from May 30 to June 15.
The lauded, critically -acclaimed
show will also be travelling to
Ottawa in 2019, where The Pigeon
King will take its place in the
nation's capital as part of the
National Arts Centre (NAC) English
Theatre 2018/19 Season.
"It's an incredible, Canadian
story," says Gil Garratt, Blyth
Festival's Artistic Director and a co -
creator of The Pigeon King, "The
whole thing is beyond belief.

The Citizen
With major renovation and
expansion of the Brussels, Morris
and Grey Community Centre on the
horizon, the recreation board is
looking to strike two new
committees.
The Brussels, Morris and Grey
Recreation Board is looking to
create both building and fundraising
committees to work ahead to the
rejuvenation of the village's
community centre.
The board has advertised for the
positions in The Citizen for the last
two weeks, asking that letters of
interest be sent to Board Chair
Nicole Noble at PO Box 612,
Brussels, NOG 1H0 by June 1.
Alvin McLellan, one of Huron
East Council's representatives on
the board, said that he feels it's
essential to have members of the
public on the committees to ensure
that all voices are being heard.
McLellan said he had early
contact with long-time minor
hockey association member Doug
McArter who had some thoughts
about potential expansion of the
community centre. McArter has
since reached out to be involved
with the project.
The board held its most recent
regular meeting earlier this month
and, after the public meeting on the
future of the centre, all of the
evening's discussion was about the
Brussels, Morris and Grey
Community Centre.
McLellan said that while
discussion among board members
and members of the public began
