Tomorrow night (Feb. 8) it is time for some over 50 hockey as the Exeter 50+ visit Bayfield at 8 p.m. to take on their rivals, the Bayfield 50+ hockey team. The 2018 Shrove Tuesday event will be held on Feb. 13 and all are welcome to partake in the pancakes! (Photo by Melody Falconer -Pounder) Members and friends of Trinity Anglican Church will once again be hosting their annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper. This year the event falls on Feb. 13. Pancakes and sausages are turned into scrumptious delights with the simple addition of locally crafted Maple Syrup! Also on the menu are juice, tea or coffee and squares! All are invited to enjoy food and fellowship while supporting Trinity's ministry in the community. The event will be held in the Trinity Parish Hall, 10 Keith Cres, from 5-7 p.m. Admission at the door will be adults, $8; children under 12 years free. There is a family rate of $20. Take out is available by calling 519 565-2790 on the day of the event CUPCAI E DELIVERY SERVICE OFFERED FOR VALENTINE'S DAY IRISH MI TIIEI The Little Inn of Bayfield and the Bayfield Concert Series have joined together to create a unique supper club series that will start this Feb 17 with "Irish Mythen" performing. The show will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets to the show only are $20. Entrance to the show is free with a dinner reservation. For more information call The Little Inn at 519 565-2611. SOUPS ON Soups On is once again set for Feb. 18 as part of the Family Day weekend in Bayfield. This year organizers are asking everyone to bring their own mug to taste test the soups in. This will help with the Bayfield Town Hall's commitment to do their part for the environment and their efforts in reducing waste. All are welcome to sample the soups, meet up with friends and neighbors, learn about the many active organizations in the community and have fun! Local restaurants and community organizations will compete for the coveted ladle trophies and bragging rights. Voting will begin at 2 p.m and end at 3:45 p.m. with winners announced shortly after. The goal of CHAP is to promote cardiovascular health in the local community and to raise awareness about the importance of blood pressure monitoring. Trained volunteers will help participants measure their blood pressure and complete a heart and stroke risk profile. A copy of these results will be given to the participant and, with their permission, sent to their family physician if they are participating in the program. DUNKIRK FIRST FILM ON SCHEDULE FOR MOVIE NIGHTS AT TRINITY The congregation of Trinity Anglican Church welcomes the community to join in fellowship over a hearty bowl of soup while delighting in a great cinematic work. This extremely popular community event will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 20 and will be held on the four subsequent Tuesdays after that from 6-9 p.m. Those who attend will enjoy a choice of soup, bread and a beverage all for a free will donation followed by a movie. This year's movie schedule is: Dunkirk, Feb. 20; Lion, Feb. 27; Gifted, March 6; La La Land, March 13; and Imitation Game, March 20. Family income levels suggested are: one person, $30,000; two persons, $40,000; three persons $42,500 plus $2,500 for each additional person. This site will allow people to search various data sets including boundaries, planning information, environmental data, recreation and tourism, points of interest, transportation and more. Huron County is committed to being an open and transparent government, with values in making public, County data open and accessible to all The Open Data Website offers a variety of searching options including eight categories of data, and over 25 data sets available for public viewing and downloading in various forms. The information available on the site can be downloaded and then analyzed with software such as Microsoft Excel and viewed in charts and on maps. FOOD BANK OPEN HOUSE The Huron County Food Bank Distribution Centre (HCFBDC) wishes to invite members of the community to their Open House and Ontario Trillium Foundation Recognition on Feb. 10. The Open House will start at 10:30 a.m. followed by speeches at 11 a.m. The HCFBDC Warehouse is located at 39978 Crediton Road, Centralia, ON at the corner of Hwy 4 and Crediton Road. EVENING FACILITATED DISCUSSION ON MENTAL HEALTH GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP Whether someone's loss results from death, divorce, loss of job or childhood issues, both recent or in the past, recovery is possible. People are encouraged to register for the eight-week Action Program for moving beyond death, divorce and other losses. The event was designed to facilitate discussion and reduce the stigma surrounding Mental Health and Addictions. (Submitted photo) A large crowd packed the gym at Seaforth Public School last on Jan. 31 to attend Speak LOUD Seaforth on Bell Let's Talk day. The event drew Huron and Perth County providers of Mental Health and Addictions Services as well as the OPP and the Superintendent of Education, Jodie Baker, from the Avon Maitland District School Board (AMDSB). Designed to facilitate discussion and reduce the stigma surrounding Mental Health and Addictions, the night featured speakers sharing their stories as Service Providers in Huron and Perth as well as personal stories by John and Heather Steffler regarding their son Tanner and his struggles with Addiction and Mental Health. Alex Wreford from Choices for Change also spoke regarding his own personal struggles with Mental Health and Addiction. With the mission that collectively we must do better to help our Youth in Huron County and surrounding areas, the Tanner Steffler Foundation hopes that events such as these will draw much needed attention and resources to Mental Health and Addictions in the area. The Tanner Steffler Foundation (TSF) wishes to thank the Seaforth Public School Parent Council for hosting such a well organized and attended event. The TSF would also like to thank the following Service Providers for taking the time to come, speak, share and be a presence at such a collaborative event: Victim Services of Huron County, OPP, Choices for Change, Huron Perth Centre, Huron County Health Unit, Healthy Kids, Canadian Mental Health Association and the Avon Maitland District School Board. THREE BAYFIELD AREA RESIDENTS HONORED BY MPP Huron -Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson recognized 40 residents from across Huron and Bruce Counties during the sixth Annual Remarkable Citizens Awards held at the Teeswater-Culross Community Centre on Jan. 25. The event, which featured a recognition ceremony and musical entertainment performed by Mark Willms, celebrated the contributions of local volunteers and community champions. Yep, I attended my very first Super Bowl Party on Sunday evening. Thanks to our gracious hosts the food was amazing and plentiful and the company a lot of fun. Those in attendance possessed various levels of football knowledge from die-hard fans; one fellow even brought his own Patriots camp chair, to those who asked where the nets were? (I'm pretty sure they were kidding). However, by the end of the fourth quarter everyone was actually watching the game. Even those folks that were there just for the half time show looked up from their phones. After all who doesn't love it when the underdog wins?
