SUGAR SHOWDOWN
Tonight (Feb. 3) is the night that fans of The Pink
Flamingo Bakery have been waiting for, Erin Bolger,
owner/operator of the Bayfield business will make an
appearance on "Sugar Showdown" a televised
baking competition show set to air at 9 p.m. on the
Food Network (Channel 356 for TCC customers.)
Bolger's renowned pink lemonade cupcakes earned
her a spot on the show that was filmed last summer.
Her employee Sharon Thompson was her assistant
during the taping. Both have had to keep the results
of the show a secret since filming. No matter the
result, The Pink Flamingo Bakery will be open the
day after the program airs, Feb. 4, from 11 a.m. to 5
p.m. offering cupcakes inspired by the television
event. (The bakery is normally closed during the
winter months.)

REMEMBER ME?
Volume 7
There are countless photographs of people in the Bayfield Historical Society's Archives
collection, but sadly their names were never recorded. In this section we will showcase an
image with the hopes that one of our subscribers might be able to identify the individual(s) in
the photo. Please email your information to the Editor's attention at the address listed near the
bottom of the page in "Submissions" or you can email the archivist directly at
bayarchives@tcc.on.ca or click on the image and make a comment on Flickr.
Editor's Note: We are now adding the archive's code to the information supplied with the
photographs so that if anyone would like to learn more from the Bayfield Archives about
certain pictures they can use the code to make the process easier.

My aunt recently brought a precious picture over to share of a group of youngsters. She wasn't sure where or why it was taken
but her late husband was one of the boys in the photo. After some discussion we surmised that it was probably taken at a
birthday party for a local child. The discovery of a short note on the back of the picture; faded in pencil and difficult to read,
determined we were correct. So whose birthday was it? Well, I'm not telling because I am going to run the photo in the next
issue of the Bayfield Breeze in the Remember Me section to see if we can identify a few more of the children and perhaps even
surprise the birthday child!
This photo got me thinking that there are probably other local group photos out there. Maybe a class picture from the Bayfield
Melody Falconer -Pounder School, a church group, a special family gathering, a service group or a sports team — images that would be fun for people to
see and also try to guess who the folks are. I find I get the most response from pictures taken mid -60s or later so if anyone has
one or two they would like to share — scan it or take a good clear photo of it and email it to me and we'll include it in an upcoming Remember Me. — Melody
Ideas and contributions to the Bayfield Breeze are always welcome.
Deadlines for submissions are Sundays at 4 p.m.
