By creating a safe place to explore and discuss this often taboo subject, with lightness and gentle humor, it is hoped that participants will come to a better understanding of themselves and their feelings about death. In turn, this may lead to enhanced relationships and more fullness of living. All are welcome to attend one or both evenings. The discussions will be held on Nov. 12 and Nov. 26 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at St. Andrew's United Church. Refreshments will be served. (Photo by Gary Lloyd -Rees) PHOTOS SUBMITTED STORY BY MELODY FALCONER -POUNDER The interior of the Bayfield Town Hall recently was given a facelift and finishing touches included installing new stage curtains and hanging a limited edition print of the hall in all "her" splendor. The Bayfield Town Hall Heritage Society (BTHHS) was this week the proud recipient of a stunning Carolyn Hurd limited edition print of the town hall, generously donated by Judy and Ken Roth, owners of JMR Gallery in Bayfield. The artist, a Zurich resident, wrote a short description of the painting after completing it: "The town hall is not built of brick like other historical buildings I've painted, so for this painting my methods were a little different. I love to paint shadows, but shadows on white buildings can be interesting and challenging because they can take on many different colors. In late afternoon, the distinct shadow of the tree on the side of the town hall turns a subtle lavender hue. As the sun lowered in the sky, it cast long shadows across the grass. It also highlighted the trees with touches of orange, and the building with touches of yellow." In addition to their gift of the print, JMR gallery is also offering to donate $10 to the BTHHS from the sale of any of the remaining limited edition town hall prints that are sold at the gallery. The prints are exclusive to JMR, and are all numbered and signed. A certificate of authenticity accompanies each print. The interior of the Bayfield Town Hall has been the site of a refurbishment with one of the finishing touches being a set of new stage curtains. seen hanging inside the recently refurbished hall," said Sandy Scotchmer, president of the BTHHS. "After a few months of juggling rental schedules and contractor schedules, we are pleased to announce that refurbishments at the Bayfield Town Hall are now complete," added Scotchmer. "It has been a really wonderful transformation for the "old gal" from a little chipped and tired, to crisp and clean and ready to greet everyone for Christmas in Bayfield." She extended thanks to the very patient participants and instructors of Yoga classes held at the Town Hall, who were displaced a few times through the "facelift" to accommodate various aspects of the project. "Namaste!" she said. And according to Scotchmer, the icing on the refurbishment cake at the town hall has been the installation of new stage curtains. "They are indeed the icing on the cake," said Scotchmer. "As the curtains were being installed, you saw months of work suddenly come together, it is wonderful to see the town hall's new perkiness! On behalf of the Board Of Directors for Bayfield Town Hall, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the gracious donors of the new stage curtains; the town hall looks so complete with them installed. His Grandpa joined us for a big part of the day too. We started with breakfast out and then we did our annual Operation Christmas Child shopping with Graham helping Grandpa fill a box with things a little boy his age would like. It was just all too exciting as he fell asleep in the car on the short ride home. I didn't have the heart to wake him so I settled in the front seat with some reading material and the hour he slept past quite pleasantly. After naptime we did a turn around the yard discovering a few remaining Dandelions going to seed, some Cat Tails puffing up and some Milk Weed spreading its silken wings. We even discussed the work of a couple of bees basking in the last of the autumn sunshine. We took our snack up to the highest point of our play centre and enjoyed some conversation. How to get down? Why, the tube slide, of course. We baked some cookies. He enjoyed some pool time with Grandpa. The afternoon came to a close with a lot giggles as he entertained a very active "Sammy the Cat" at Great Nana's house. After dinner there was time for blowing and catching bubbles while bathing, followed by three bedtime stories and then it was lights out for both of us. In my opinion time very well spent, after all, being "three" is delightful but fleeting. — Gramel Ideas and contributions to the Bayfield Breeze are always welcome.
