NOTE OF THANKS
Matt Smith, of Bayfield, died on Nov. 25 at the age of
63 years. His family recently sent this note in to the
Bayfield Breeze to share with our readers.
"On behalf of myself and our family I would like to
thank everyone for all of the kindness extended to us
over the past few months and especially the last two
weeks. Having a very supportive family and
countless good friends with us right now has been
wonderful and has made this difficult time a little
easier.
Matt loved being in Bayfield and always said that
living here was as close to heaven as a person could
get. We loved him very much and will miss that
smiling face. Once again, thank you."

HIGHLIGHTS OF CHRISTMAS HOUR FOR CHILDREN
PHOTOS AND STORY BY MELODY
FALCONER -POUNDER
About 40 youngsters, parents and grandparents
attended Christmas Hour for Children at the
Bayfield Library on Dec. 14.
The afternoon, organized by the Friends of the
Bayfield Library (FOBL), was highlighted by an
original play featuring Judy Keightley, Judith
Higgs, Jim Fergusson and young performers,
Caleb Maaskant, Siobhan and Aidhan Kleuskens.

Week 52 Issue 233
Christmas Hour for Children was hosted by the Friends of the Bayfield Library on the afternoon of Dec. 14 at the
new library. Caleb Maaskant performed in the play that was held as part of the activities. His character received
an extra special gift from Santa.
Aidhan Kleuskens kept the other actors on their toes during the play held as part of Christmas Hour for
Children, including, his sister, Siobhan.
Following the performance those in attendance
were invited to the library meeting room for a
crafting time — decorating a giving bag and
Christmas tree with foam stickers were among the
activities as well as making a paper snowflake.
The children's faces brightened with delight after
they saw what a few simple snips with the
scissors could create! And of course the
opportunity to ice a large gingerbread cookie and
"glue" all kinds of yummy treats on it was a very
popular part of the afternoon.
Travis Saunders (left) and Powell Maaskant watched
intently as the story unfolded.
An exciting activity was making paper snowflakes. Travis
Saunders was delighted by the finished snowflake that he
and his Dad, Tim, worked so hard on together.
Jailyn Aubin and her Nana, Joanne Thatcher, seemed to
enjoy the play.

Ciara and Aliyia Chisholm were delighted to see Santa Claus when he came out from behind the stacks of books
at the library on Saturday afternoon.
A variety of craft activities were offered at Christmas Hour for Children at the Bayfield Library on Saturday the
most popular station being the cookie decorating table.
The moral of the play was it is better to give than to
receive - most appropriate at this festive time of year.
Avery, and his mother, Erica Michaud, enjoyed watching
the young people in the play presented as part of
Christmas Hour for Children.
Library Friend, Barbara Brown, showed Siobhan Kleuskens
how to make a paper snowflake, while Caleb Maaskant
worked on cutting out his design.

Back in January my husband and I went with family to Costa Rica for a 10 -day vacation. It was one of the most amazing
experiences of our lives and even before that holiday was over we expressed a desire to return there if the opportunity afforded
itself but the next time would be for longer.
As luck would have it we are leaving on Jan. 5 to go to visit a different part of the country but this time for three weeks. Anyone
who has ever gone on vacation knows there is a whole lot of work to do to prepare for the trip and an equal measure of work
waiting when one returns. This is certainly the case for someone in the "newspaper" biz and I'm asking the cooperation of our
contributors to help me get the job done in terms of meeting some deadlines.
Melody Falconer -Pounder
Our subscribers who look forward to an issue each and every Wednesday, will not be disappointed, we're going to create four
special edition issues, instead of "live" issues, for January.
If you have news about an upcoming event that you would like to have appear in the Bayfield Breeze on the following publication dates: Jan. 8, 15, 22
and/or 29th please have the information to me no later than 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31 — I may have to ring in the New Year at my desk but it is all in the
name of "Pura Vida"! - Melody
Ideas and contributions to the Bayfield Breeze are always welcome.
Deadlines for submissions are Sundays at 4 p.m.
