The money was raised during a Family Day Weekend snowshoeing event. (Submitted photo) Tyler Hessel, owner of Outside Projects, recently presented a cheque for $100 to Barry Detenbeck of the Bayfield River Valley Trail Association. The money was raised during an introductory snowshoe hike organized by the Main Street business on the afternoon of Feb. 20th as part of Family Day weekend celebrations. Approximately 30 people interested in trying out snowshoes took part in the hike that took place on the Woodland Trail. The hike was originally scheduled for the Sawmill Trail, however, mild weather earlier in the week caused the ice to break up on the Bayfield River making snowshoeing difficult along that trail, a portion of which parallels the river. This week, we feature a photo taken in 1962 that honors the upcoming maple syrup season. The woman shown is working in the Gemeinhardt Sugar Shack. Does anyone remember her? BRIDGE CLUB Looking for a fun way to spend an evening? Then why not join the Wednesday Evening Bridge Club for their next meeting on March 2? The group meets at the Bayfield Lions' Community Building and hands will be dealt starting at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend. ISSUE 85 In Issue 85, we featured a photograph taken in 1900. We realized that probably no one will be able to identify the woman but the value of this image could not be discounted. The woman is walking on the hill that today can be found at the start of the Sawmill Trail. The logs for the original corduroy road are visible. It is an image that clearly demonstrates how important this road was to our early pioneers. In Issue 86, we recognized Girl Guide and Boy Scout Week with a picture taken of Girl Guide leaders in full regalia. One of the Guiders in the picture has been identified as Lillian Higgins. Does anyone know which one? And also does anyone recognize any of the other women? cc.villageofbayfield.com/Members/BayfieldBreeze[Weekl Olssue87/tabid/491 /Default.aspx 4/10 5/27/2019 Week 10 Issue 87 Make your comments... click on any image and it will take you to Flicks 0 SHARE ©++®...
