EMPTIES FOR
ALZHEIlVIERS
Two Bayfield women would like to remind everyone
preparing for New Year's Eve celebrations to share
their empties for Alzheimer's Disease.
Dianne Brandon and Carrie Courtney will be
participating in the 2011 Walk for Memories on Jan.
29 and they have come up with a unique idea as a
fundraiser.
It is, of course, hoped that everyone will celebrate
responsibly this festive season and when doing so
plan to donate the empty beer bottles and cans; wine
and liquor bottles and even soda cans as well, to
their team, "For the Love of Elane and Doris". The
ladies being honored are currently living with
Alzheimers, Elane Brandon, Courtney's grandmother,
and Doris Schilbe, Dianne's mother.

PROGRAMS TO START JAN. 17
STORY BY MELODY FALCONER -POUNDER
January and February days often seem longer than they are short so once again the
congregations of the village's four local churches have joined together to offer an interesting
series of programs designed to combat the winter blahs.
The third year of the "Take Time in 2011" programs will run from Jan. 17 to Feb. 14. They are a
perfect opportunity for friends and neighbors to learn and share with one another.
The programs will be held on Mondays from 1:30-3 p.m. Each participating church will host one
event.
Empties of all sorts may be dropped off at Brandon's
Hardware in Bayfield, or arrangements can be made
for pick up on Jan. 9 (other times can be arranged as
well). For more information call Brandon's Hardware
at 519 565-2677.

In Issue 77, a photo of a very prominent village
family is pictured as they looked in 1912. The family
shown is Dr. Ninian Wildridge and Mrs. Woods and
their two daughters, Lucy and Jean. Dr. Ninian W.
Woods was the nephew of the well-known Dr. Ninian
Mahaffey Woods. He lived at the Rutledge House
and "The Hut". He suffered from severe arthritis as
did his daughter Lucy. And although he actively
practiced medicine in his first decades in Bayfield,
he reduced his medical commitment and became
the village Postmaster. Lucy, was instrumental in
creating Pioneer Park and also kept the community
informed as a correspondent for the Clinton News -

I just wanted to tell you how much we are enjoying the
Bayfield Breeze. Your pictures are wonderful. We are
resident for 15 years and have
learned more about Bayfield in the
short time the Breeze has been
published than all the years before.
We spend our winters in the sunny

SUBMISSIONS
Between Dec. 24 and Dec. 28 1 have enjoyed one Christmas event after another - yet fortunately with some discipline and
patience an issue of the Bayfield Breeze has made it to your inbox this morning. I worked in between turkey dinners and gift
exchanges to make it a reality but it wasn't a hardship.
The production of a New Year's issue whether it appears on-line or in print has always been a favorite of mine. For there is no
better time to take stock of all that you have accomplished, not only on a personal level but also as a community, than by taking
a look back at the year past. In addition it is a time to look forward to the next 52 issues and wonder on what journey all those
potential stories and pictures will lead us.
To all our subscribers thank you for continuing to join us on this adventure.
And on behalf, of the Bayfield Breeze Committee — Dennis, Mike, Roger, Ian and John, I would like to take this opportunity to wish each and every
subscriber a New Year filled with good health, abundance and nothing but happy days. - Melody
Ideas and contributions to the Bayfield Breeze are always welcome.
