The unutisal amount of heavy rains, and the consequent amount of stagnant water standing on ]ow land, followed by warm weather will have a tendency to foster fever germs. The Toronto Observatory reports an earthquake tremor passed through this province on the night of August 21st. The seismograph records the vibrations as commencing at 22.20 o'clock, and continuing for two hours, the strongest being recorded. between 22 and 23.20 This same tremor has been recorded in the European observatories, and it thought to be part of an extensive earthquake of greatest force in the neighborhood of Japan.
