struck by lightning about newt and
teemed to the ground. The bare con-
tained quite a quantity of last season's
crop and what had been harvested this

Mr. Will Mitchell of .Molesworth
passed through our village early last
Tuesday morning giving his friends
good-bye before leaving for the West.
He was wheeling to Seaforth, Clinton
and Stratford.
Mrs. Jars. Simpson is very poorly at
present. We hope to soon see a speedy
recovery.
Dick Gralratn with his gang of masons
is busy building a wall at Sam- Suell's.

Robt. Mutch, sr., an old and highly
respected resident of this township died
on Tuesday night of last week. the
funeral took place to the Union Ceme-
tery on Friday afternoon.
The voters'. lists for East Wawanosh
for 1902 have been printed. The total
number of voters ou the list is 603. Of
this number 403 can vote at both muni-
cipal elections and elections to the Iegis-
lative assembly; 93 at municipal elec-
tions only, and 42 at elections to the
legislative assembly only. There are
346 persons on the list qualified to serve
as jurors.
Dr. John S. Anderson and Dr. D. F.
Anderson, of Philadelphia are spending
a few holidays with their relatives and
friends in the township.
Mrs. Edward Haines, of the gravel
road is visiting with her brothers; and
sisters near Toronto.
During the storm on Tuesday the barn
belouging to Mr. Henry Wightman, of
the 7th concession was struck by lightn-
ing and burned to the ground. Eleven
loads of hay, three calves and some
implements were iu the barn at the time
of the fire. Barn and contents insured
in theWest Wawanosh Mutual for $900.
A man named Gravelle attempted sui-
cide at Sarnia by cutting his throat with
a razor.
The Canadian Pacific Railway will
spend. $200,000 in reconstructing the
yards at -North Bay.

On Friday evening, July 25th, the
Presbyterian congregation met at the
manse, Belanore, to congratulate Rev,
Mr. Stewart on :the completion of
twenty-five years of service as pastor of
the church. A complimentary address
was read and Mr: Stewart was made the
recipient of a handsome lounge and
easy chair. He replied in feeling terms
and said he was surprised to think that
a %} arter of a century had rolled by
sincb they: first came amongst thein.
After the presentation the ladies spread
a bounteous repast from the baskets
which had been brought. with them and
at 10.30 or 11 o'clock the pleasant gath-
ering broke up. A good programme of
vocal and instrumental music was fur-
nished during the evening. The Times
joins in congratulating Rev: Mr. Stew-
art on the completion of . twenty-five
years. successful work at Belmore and

to her home in Detriot.
The Young People's Society of Trinity
church will hold a lawn social on the

Mr. James Moore, -of Waverley, Nova
Scotia, is visiting his uncle and aunt,
Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Emigh. Mrs. Moore's
home is 10 miles from Halifax and is

mortal of the late Henry Perkins, post-
master of Gorrie, was laid to rest in the
Gorrie cemetery. Mr. Perkins was in
