has fulfilled the pledge he made prior
to the general election, that, if elected,

This evening (Wednesday) Rev, W.
J. Mayers and the Bernardo Musical
Boys will give an entertainment in
the Town Hall. Mr. Mayers will tell
of the wonderful work done for or-
phan and destitute children, and it is
said: the musical renderings of the
boys charm all who hear them.

number of neighbors and friends
gathered at the home of Mr. and
Mrs, Reba Maxwell, sr., to express
their regrets at the intended removal
of these respected residents from their

A Brother Oone,
Mr, Hewer received word on Son -
day that his brother in Tileonburg
was not expected to live, and he left
by first train Monday. Word came
Monday evening that he had passed

first from tonsilitis, then from typhoid,
and later passed through an operation.

A Big Wild cat.
One of the largest specimens of this
animal seen for some tirae was shot
near Dundalk last week, Two men
were out hunting, with two doge,
when they eame woes the cat. Ooe
of the hounds was so badly mangled
by the wild. cat that it had to be taken
home on a sleigh. The cat weighed
40 pounds.

Brossels Presbyterians have exten-
ded a call to Rev. A. 3; Malan of Tor-
onto, fornaerly of Woodville,
Captain Milton, the new officer of
the S, A., will arrive hereThursday to

The Choir of St, Paul's Church en-
joyed a fine sleigh ride and were most
leespita,bly entertained on Thursday
evening last, at the home of Mr. John
Marshall, near Belmore. They are

A membership of 31,887 ba,s been
reached. by the Pocket Testament
League, which held its annual meet-
ing on January 21st. In the last nine
enonthe there has been an increase
membership of 12 224, and in that time
204, branches have been opened. The
total number of branches is now 503,
of which 23 are in Newfoundland.
Next Tuesday, a Missionary Insti-
tute will be held in Wingham Metho-
dist Chorale. Two sessions will be
held, one commencing at 2 15 in the
afternoon, the other at 7 30 in the
evening. The topics vvill be along mita-
sionary lines and. educative in their
character. Rev. A. S. Langford of
Kincardine and Rev. G. W. Rivers of
Ripley are among the speakers. The
sessions promise to be of interest and.
