my Drug Store, and have secured the services of the well known Toronto
Eye Specialist and Instructor Mr. Wm. E. Montgomery, fi'oln
the Toronto Optical Institute, to he with me for ten days to instruct me
in the new Science System of sight testing, and to conduct for the above
time an optical demonstration of the "Looking Into the Eye" method of
fitting glasses.

The Council met at Beigravo on
May 28, as a Court of Revision and
appeal; all the members present.
Having each severally subscribed to
the affirmation xfgait•ed by Statute
the appeal of Donald Patterson, W.
EL lot 20, eon. 3, who complained that
his, land was assessed too high coin -
pared with other land in the same
locality (this being the only appeal
presented) was brought up for con-
sideration, No action taken in this
appeal the assessment being con-
firmed.
On application Gerald ICeliv' was
added to the roll as N. F. lot 37, con.
7. There being no other additions or
changes made it was moved by Mr.
Scott, seed by Mr, Storiehotrhe that
the assessment roil as now revised be
,adopted and the Court closed for the
present year --carried.

shipped five carloads of cattle on
Saturday last.
A number from town attended the
wedding of Miss Jessie Moffatt of
Turnberry Iast Wednesday.
Messrs. J. N. Allan, SV, J. Mather
and T. G. Hemphill went to Seaforth
in the latter's car last Monday night.
On Monday last, Chas. Sproal,
section boss, met with a painful ac-
cident which will lay him off work for
sometime, He and men were on the
way to Wolk towards Wingham, when
a crowbar slipped down in front of
the hand -car and pitched it off the
track. Mr. Sproal feel on the crow-
bar, and it tore a large wound in his
thigh. Mr. Will Patterson was also
cut about his head. We hope to hear
of their speedy recovery.

ing its loveliest with its wealth of
blossoming trees and the deep verdure
of the grass and grain.
' Mr. Strachan preached in the Pres-
byterian Church on Sunday as Rev.
Mr. Gibson was in Hamilton with his
Wife, who is dangerously ill.
The many friends of Mrs. Newton
on the 17th of Howick will be glad. to
hear she is recovering from the serious
operation she has undergone.

T. H. and Mrs. McLaughlin left on
Tuesday for the West. They intend
going to the coast before returning
home.
Rev, J. W. Hibbert occupied the
pulpit in the Methodist Church, Hen-
sall on Sunday last, going from there
to St. Thomas on Monday to attend
Conference.. Mr. Hibbert's little
daughter Alice accompanied him as
far as London.
Mutilated Money.
The Assistant Receiver -General, To-
ronto, announces that coins that are
drilled, marked, or bent, are only
worth 75 per cent. of their face value.
Don't accept them in payment of bills
or in making change. If you get
them don't put them on your church
collection plate. Coins worn Smooth
in circulation are worth full value.
Dominion one and two dollar ` bills
mutilated, and still having three-fifths
remaining, are accepted at full value,
If two-fifths remain one-half face
value will be paid.
PRESBYTERY OF' MAITLAND.
The Presbytery of Maitlaird met in
Wroxeter, on Tuesday, May 21st.,
with Rev. D. A. McLean, Moderator,
presiding.
It was agreed that the P; esbytery
pay Conunissioners' expenses to the
A.sserr,l,ly on the basis of the tourist
sleeper except on occasions when As-
seru'bly meets where tourist cars are
not available.
Mr. West gave report on Statistics
showing an increase in cc.ntributions
to stipends of $2049 also an increase in
contributions for all purposes of $5320
and a decrease of $210 for the Schemes
of the church, The report was adopt-
ed and the convenor authorized to
have it printed so that each family in
the Presbytery may have a copy.
Mr. Perrie reported for the B. M.
Committee, stating that he had at-
tended the Synodical Committee meet-
ing which met for one hour and a half
when nothing was done but to pass on
the grants and discussions to the
General Assembly's Committee in
Toronto, No discussion or opinion
was expressed by the Synodical Com-
mittee.
Mr. Duncan Was appointed convener
of Committee on Y. P.. S.
Mr. West gave notice of motion for
re -arrangement of Roll of Commis-
sioners to the Assembly.
The Clerk read communication from
several Presbyteries announcing their
intention to ask leave to receive 22
ministers from other churches,
Presbytery approved the remit for
consolidating the various funder of the
church.
Dut'a Church, Walton, was granted
permission: to mortgage their new
church and to change the site.
It was agreed that the trustees Of
Enniskillen church proceed with the
sale of the church.
Mr. Armstrong, assistant secretary
E'. M., addressed the meeting. The
thanks of the Presbytery was tender.
