Fifteenth edding Anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs Wm, Maxwell, of the
Blnevale road elebrated the fifteenth
anniversary of their wedding on Friday
evening last. Upwards of ninety in-
vited guests assembled at their beauti-
ful home to con ratulate and honor the
bride, and groom of fifteen years ago.
The evening was very pleasantly spent
in dancing and g: mes of various kinds
and all present' ad a very enjoyable
time. Hearty go..d wishes and congra-
tulations were ext tided and on all sides
was expressed the , ish that they might
live to celebrate any more wedding

On Wednesday ev ning last, Marion
Stark, relict of th late James Mc-
Kenzie, passed awa at her home on
Frances street afte a short illness, in

While sitting in his cha r at his home
in Belgrave `on Sunday at noon, Mr.
Charles: McClelland passe ° away sud-
denly in his 85tleYear, A ewmoments
previous to his, death he h been chat-
ting with the reenters of his family.
He held been complaining for to few

Born in the 4'i5unty of Ar . gh, Ireland,
he emigrated to Canada s • on after his
marriage in 1,849, settlin _ at 'Hornby,
Halton county, where h= taught school.
for a number of years: He also taught
school at . Milton for • orne time, In
1880 he moved. to Beigr ve and engaged
in the mercantile basinss in which 'he
continued up to the ti e of his death
and he was universall •respected in the
community. As well as the general'
store business Mr. Me elland dealt ex-
tensively in cattle. t was a man who
took a great interests public matters
and was well posted • n ,the questions
of the day. He never aspired to any
public office. -He was a man who loved
peace in the .comuuniand was many
times sought to sett e disputes, and
could well be termed he peacemaker.
His advice was sough by many people
in the community and his opinion was
always given fairly - : nd honestly. In
all his dealings he w s strictly honest
and upright and will long be remem-
bered as one of t e most highly es-
teemed residents of : eigrave, Ile was
appointed a• Justin of the Peace by
the Mowat Govern ent and when the
Whitney Coverntn t came in power
he was re -appoint-.. In politics Mr.
McCelland was a Liberal and was a
great admirer of ' it Wilfrid Laurier
and the editor of t e TIMES will long
remember a numb. of interesting con-
versations with hi on political. .,natters
covering from the ays prior to Con-
federation to the .,.resent time. For
many years he att. ded the Anglican
Church and was in erested in Sunday
school work, but of late years he had
been attending the Methodist Church.
