of PO a month to a woman 65 years
old, who has had charge of a small

A stationmaster's wife during arecent
great strike, plat a picket to rout in an
original wap. The picket visited a stat-
ion on the I1'Il rket Weighton and Drif-
field (Yorks) branch of the North-East-
ern Railway to induce the employees to
cease work, The Station master's wife
ran out with a bucket of whitewash and
a brush and chased him from the stat-
ion.
Mrs. Mary Reed, wife of aprosPerona
farmer of Maidstone, was found mur-
dered in the house by her son.. Her

last with a prisoner.
—The Wingham motor boat and
canoe club is arranging to hold a re-
gatta some evening next week as the
final event before the closing of navi-
gation on the Maitland river.
—An exchange says:—The man who
gets mad at what the newspaper says
about him, should return thanks three
times a day that those other things
which the paper knows about him are
not published.

These new ears have seven compart-
ments, a drawing room, an observation
parlor and an observation platform.'
The entrance to the rooms is from aisles
running along the sides of the cars,
ensuring absolute privacy. There are
two berths, the lower being made up
from two double seats, and there are
all toilet requirements in each com-
partment,
The cars are lighted with electricity,
and in the warm weather are kept cool
with electric fans,
These cars are' models of luxury and
nomfort, in which the C. P. R. stand-
ard of equipment eyeels,

the amount of the tender, which will be for-

The Wise Use of Perfume.
It should be a mere aroma, not a
strong scent. If used in blatant fash-
ion it is always liable to suspicion as
employed to conceal some bodily defect,
The abuse and not the use of perfume
is to be avoided. The clothes and the
