Widowers
It is a tad thing to be a widower.
If a widower mopes around and won't
mingle in sooiety and refuses to take
part in any innocent amusements the
women say he is putting it all on for
fear folks will think his grief is not real.
If he mourns for the Conventional per-
iod and then begins to , sit up and take
notice, the women say he is callous
brute and they pity the woman who is
foolish enough to marry him.
If he puts in all his spare time with
his children, they say it is too bad he
doesn't pick out some motherly woman
and Marry her and give his children a
home.
If he doesn't spend all his spare time
with his children they say the poor little
things are crully neglected, and that's
what might be expected of a man any-
how.—Life.

Finding Buried Towns.
Every once in a while excavation in
Southern Arizona results in the dis-
covery era a buried village. The moat
repent discovery of this kind was made
by Frank 0. Erwin at his &me, four-
teen miles from Cochise. Three miles
from his ranch, Erwin started to dig' an
irrigation ditch. Only a few feet under
the surface he began to unoover utensils
of a shape and material which indicated
that they had been used by a race prob.
ably as old as the (libelee, that strange
people whose "Seven Famous Cities"
was the lure that brought Father Niza
and the Negro Estevanicio from the
Spanish mission at Culiacan north along
the Sonora River to the oldecity of
Talmo, near Tucson, which expedition
was the beginning of civilization 10
Arizona. After digging deeper, Erwin
came across a wall, which he followed
for twenty feet. Further investigation
brought to light hundreds of bones well
preserved, one skeleton being intact.
When an attempt; was made to take up
the skeleton it fell to pieces. Among
the treasurers unearthed was a slab on
which was written curious figures repre-
senting men and birds and animals. Er-
win took several relics into Tombstone,
and will send others to the Smithsonian
institution.—Kansas City Star.
