Tuesday. He is enjoying his holidays

The home of Mr. and Mrs. James
Sheppard was the scene of a happy event
on Wednesday, when their daughter,
Mise Blanche, beoame the bride of Mr.
D. E. Kemp, Rev. J. E: Ford was the
officiating clergyman. After a short
honeymoon trip, the happy couple will
live. in Ottawa.
At a congregational farewell service,
held in the Ontario Street Methodist
Ohuroh on Wednesday evening, in honor
of Mies Sybil Oonrtioe, who is going as
a missionary to Japan, an excellent pro.
gramme was given. Mise Oourtioe was
made the recipient of a oertifioate of lite
membership in the Woman's Missionary
Society, a gold life membership pin, and
a silver sugar bowl and cream pitcher.
A complimentary address was also read
by Mrs, Cosens, Mise Oourtioe is a
clever, devoted girl and will do well in
the foreign field.

Mr Josepb Borbo of the 10Rh line east
died on the 21st. Ile had suffered a par-
alytio stroke on the 12th and another on
the 10th. He did not rally after the se-
cond stroke but gradually eank until he
died, He leaves a widow and family,
most of whom are grown up, He was
66 years of age,
Mr. Walter Rose, a former resident
of the Gravel road north, is home from
Saskatchewan where he has been home -
standing the past two years. He is loc-
ated northwest of Moosejew and says
there is a very fair orop in that distrlot.

Mre. Charles Batton met with a ser-
ious accident by whioh she had the palm
of her hand badly lacerated. • As the
wound had been dressed and appeared
to give little trouble no serious oonseq-
neuoes were expected But on Monday
evening,July 25th,the family and friends
werealarmed to learn that teatime, or
look -jaw, was developing. Medical aid
was at once summoned bat little could
be done to oheok the dreadful disease.
It appears to have made nnnaually rapid
progress until Wednesday at noon when
the unfortunate sufferer was relieved by
death.
The accident, it will be remembered
was caused by Mrs. Button taking hold
of a rope used in unloading hay and hav
ing her hand drawn into a pulley.
Mr. Button and family will have the
sympathy of many friends in their sud-
den and sad bereavement.
Sir Wilfrid Laurier laid the corner-
stone of the new Saskatchewan Univer-
sity and addressed an immense meeting
at Saskatoon.
