BRUSSELS
Wednesday, May 18th Rev. M. Swann,
formerly a much loved pastor of Brus-
sels Methodist Church, died at his home
in Fergus at the advanced age of 88
years, Mrs. Swann predeceased her
husband.
The Official Board of the Methodist
Church, Brussels, have tendered a un-
animous invitation to Rev. A. E. Lloyd,
of Port Stanley, where he has spent the
past 4 years, following Rev. Mr. Powell,
He bas an excellent record for zealous
and successful work. Conference will
deal with the invitation.
Ivan Crooks, druggist, is here at pres-
ent visiting his parents and other old
friends. It is about eight years since be
left town and he has spent the past 8 or
10 months in Cobalt. He purposes
leaving for the West in the course of a
week or so and may go as far as the
Coast.
It was a surprise to many to hear
that Dr. R. P. Feild had disposed of his
dental praotioe to Dr. Hamilton, of
Brussels, and will remove shortly to
Owen Sound where he will open an
office. Dr. Feild has been a highly es-
teemed resident of town for a good
many years; is a good dentist and his
removal, and that of Mrs. Feiid, will be
deeply regretted by many.

Norman Earl, infant son of Mr. and.

On Tuesday of last week a highly
esteemed resident passed away at his
home, Iot 42, on the 5111 conoeesioa. We
refer to the death of Mr. Fred J. Rath,
who was in his 39th year. For the past
year deoeased had been in poor health,
the cause being poisoning of the system
from abstracted jaundice. No serious
trouble in the lungs as some people
supposed. Mr. Rath's father died 17
years ago and his mother is very ill at
prevent. The subject of this notice was
married to Miss Eva Jackson, daughter
of the late Joseph Jackson. She and 3
children (Joseph, Bert and Gladys)
survive, Wm. Rath, of Clinton, is a
brother and Mrs. Grimoldby, of Sea -
forth, a sister. He was a Conservative
iu politics and a Methodist in ohnroh
relationship, The funeral took place on
Thursday last. and the remains were
interred in the Union cemetery.
