Stable Burned.
Shortly after sewn o'clock on Monday
night Mr. Robt. Lockhart's •stable on
Catherine street .as completely de-
stroyed by fire, The fire had made
considerable head vay before the alarm
was given and t le stable was pretty
well destroyed b tore the firemen ar-
rived. It is -a mystery how the fire
started as a lanteeee had not been used
in the stable dor ng the winter, Only
the cow was seeaed. On the building
there was an insr1renoe of $100 and $2E

but this will not jover Mr. Lookhart'p

There was a happy party of friends at
the home of Mr. rod Mrs. Wm, Max-
well, Binevale read- on Tuesday, that
day being the fifty- 'ourth anniversary
of the marriage sff Mr. Maxwell's
parents, Mr. and M. Robt. Maxwell.
Those present were the old and in-
timate friends of the happy old couple,
who are among the oneers of this dis-

The Scottis Concert.
The annual Scottie oonoert on Friday
evening last was wel attended, but not
up to that of previo s years, owing to
the rough weather. The entertainment
was pronounced by any, who were in

years, Miss Jess Alexander, the
elocutionist, was t e favorite of the
